dear all

drove my van for the firts time in a while due to repairs/ tunning for about ten min and gave it a really thrashing and only went about 6 miles, but when i stopped the rear valance was bearly touchable, is this right???

i can never remember it being this hot before

my engine has been out and replaced and has just been tunned by zed bed ( who is top notch)

is this a worry or is it just me being paranoid???

thanks in advance

without knowing particlars; exhaust, engine work etc. i'd be inclined to say all is fine, a good run in hot weather, which it's been glorious in those fens the past couple of days can give what appears a very hot engine.

many times after a good run i've thought the very same thing; jeeez that appears hot, is all o.k, but we're all abit paranoid about our engines aren't we; listening to them when driving, smelling them etc. anyway it always was fine.

saying this double check stuff; fan and belt, timming not too much advance, yeah. and get a physical second opinion, not an assumption fuelled virtual guess off the interweb.

I spend my life (not literally) worrying about my donk overheating. The valence gets damn hot from the exhaust, my 'rule of thumb' is the grab the dipstick ... if you can bare to hold it, then alls well.

Dont mention varying pain tolerances ...
