How far do you travel for shows?

Just lookin into Dubs at the Castle, and thinkin how far would i travel for a weekend show?

Being in Northampton we're pretty central to most main shows and Santa Pod is on our doorstep. I took the bus to Ninove in Belgium but used it as an excuse to take a few days extra holiday, and i actually travelled 700miles from Shetland to Santa Pod for my first ever Big Bang in 2007 (originally meant to do it in the Bug but failed its MOT) Also done DEVA in Shewsbury which took nearly 3 hours cos we got lost :lol:

Caldicot Castle is about 2hours 45mins according to Googlemaps, and im thinkin thats about my limit at the moment as the bus isnt in great health.

How far would you go?
 
I've done 1 show so far (bustypes) and this was about 30 miles away and the next show is Camperjam (about 10 miles), but as the wife is expecting at the end of July we didn't want to go to far just incase.Thinking about vanfest in Malvern (about 50 miles) but will have an 6 week old baby so this might depend on the weather, Next year we plan to do alot more though and even leave the Midlands :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
sadly in sunny Scotland there's not many shows.

so we normally hit santa pod a few times a year, from my door to the pods about 380 miles each way :)

next show is camperjam...so it's a bit closer to home :lol:
 
Im near luton and going to dubs at the castle. Going to travel down friday afternoon if your heading past our way. This will be the first show we've stayed at im thinking 3 and half hours at about 55.
 
For us it has always been dependant on how long it takes to get there, and what's actually there for the kids. Though having said that combining holiday with occasional show is always good i.e. BVF via trip up/back from the Lake District etc...

However, if I go by myself it's governed more by what can I buy (or potentially buy) ;)
 
I have been as far as worthesee, but i flew to that one lol we did drive to Belgum once though, not in a Camper though

I think santa pod is about as far as i would go in the van.
 
Gloucesters pretty central so most stuff is within a 120 radius which is about enough. I like to do a Euro show though, which is a one off each season, and often do a Cornwall run which a couple of hundred miles.
Over the last few years though, I will plan to do closer stuff and almost every time, fuel is the biggest cost of a weekend.
 
Up until now the furthest we have been is Midlands to Brighton Breeze (twice)

But generally and if we ever get the camper back as far as we need to, done all the local shows so intend looking further afield, also want to do scotland next year
 
Vanfest at Malvern worcester , dont know milage but it took five and a half hours or so :shock:
 
I did Budel in Holland this week end. We took the Bay & Oval for twice the fun.

Well worth the effort.

Looking at Sweden Bug Run for next year, now that's a drive!
 
Does le Mans 24 hr count? If so about a 1500 mile round trip, been 3 times, but missed it this year :(
 
Furthest I have gone this year is 40 miles from home, but due to university term time these shows have been over 150 miles apart...
 
Well I'll be doing BBT in Antwerp, then on to Germany for Hessisch, then back to Belgium for Euro Bug-In, and eventually back to Brighton. Thats the longest trip to date for me. Can't wait :D
 
Just planning a trip in August: Malvern to Polzeath (North Cornwall) 212 miles.
I'm trying to break it up though so will camp for two nights in Bath (wild swimming!) Malvern-Bath 80 miles. We'll then break the journey from Bath to Polzeath by stopping at Exeter.

On the way home, we'll again stop at Exeter overnight so the longest single journey will be 145 miles (Exeter-Malvern). Don't think my wife could take any more :mrgreen:
 
I have been to Cornwall JAmboree & Santa Pod, plus i have been to Brighton Breeze and Volksworld, so go to pretty far flung places in the bus or notch ;) :mrgreen:
 
me and clyde went out to Holland in April. Thats as far as i have been for a show :? :shock: 10 hours round trip from show to port!!!

Then clyde still had a 6 hour drive home!!!!!

well worth it, i'd do it again!!!!!!!!

Living not to far from you near Milton Keynes I did Vanfest last year which was about 3hours and this year volksworld and stanford hall so far may do Bug Jam but not sure. have planned a little road trip in august 2 weeks going to north Devon and then down the coast to Newquay should be a fair few miles covered by the time we get back 8)
