Hi there!

My 68 tintop westy is sold, time for something new with more space!

Here's my 69 early bay, with dormobile roof.

The first pics when I got it:

She is an original Belgian bus, with one of the best roofs on an early bay! How spacious!
She s in a pretty good shape. A couple of small rustspots here and there, but that will be fixed!
They build in a lounge interior, not my style... :? Luckely there was a Westy interior included in the sale!

Plans:
-Bumpers, wheels and logo in cloud white (almost done)
-White wall tires (done)
-Westy interior back in (incl the hammocks) (almost done)
-Vintage speed exhaust
-Small piece of rust underneath the front window has to be fixed
-But travelling is the most important!

There was another bunch of spare parts that were included:

I first removed the lounge interior, cleaned it and put a new floor in.

Here and there a little rustspot that was treated

Some underflooring

Then

Saw, saw, saw, sand down, lacquer, isolate....

I used some X-treme insulation in the roof, sliding door and rear hatch, 20mm.

I also refurbished my dashboard. The former owner painted it green...
Everything is back original now!

Looking 8) now!!!
Must have to a bit of work to paint the clocks green  makes you wonder why??
Looks nice n solid though.

This weekend I worked again on the interior.
Nice n warm in the garage!

The wooden headliner is finally into place! Originally it was a hardboard headliner with some vinyl padding. I did it in 3mm Birch panel with 3 coats of clear floor varnish. I still have to make something for the back of the headliner.

My Miss V and her mother sewed the curtains, very nice job!
It makes the interior far more cosy!

Today I soldered a couple of Led strips and sticked them in my bus as indirect lighting.

Here's the result:

Led strip in "warm white" around the opening of the Dormobile roof

Nice indirect lighting, I also soldered in a little dimmer

Just need a decent 3 point belt to fix that seat...

A while ago I found some Dormobile bunks and bought them for almost nothing.

Today I fitted one. It will be nice extra storage room when camping!
The frames will be painted and the original fabric is like dutch cheese so it has to be renewed, but this is easy for my Miss V... :whip:
