Firstly .. and most importantly, I need to know how to get back on track with my resto ..

Lots of other things seem to be taking ALL my time .. selling house, missus poorly .. kids birthdays .. work!

Not complaining about the above obviously, just don't seem to have done owt for ages on the bus and its getting me worried..

Don't even seem to be getting on here as much!

So how do i get back on it? ... or is it normal to have a lapse? Help!

Going to vanfest so that might work some magic ..

The other thing is ... how can i remove filler from previous owners 'bodywork' without damaging metalwork underneath or having massive dust clouds above my drive and a snow like substance all over my garden when i attack it with the flap disc .. Any tips will be welcome ..

Cheers guys

I have this all the time - lost interest. I find lists a huge help and ones that are aimed at easing you in ...start easy and move up the pace if you need to.
Also it helps me to work out what bits I might need in advance and get those in, as 'I haven't got x' is always a good way of stopping you doing anything.

Old filler and dust are twinned I'm afraid, unless you have industrial extraction equipment. The poly strip discs are very good and do not damage the metal underneath.

Dont know how bad you bus is but the thing that gets me back on track is to take bus for a drive, feel the tension slip away watching all the chav's in there corsa and thinking they'll never be as cool as the geek in the bay 8) 8)

WHS!

I had a lapse of about a year on my last project and only really started getting my head around it by splitting the whole thing into small manageable jobs, and ordering up the tools/parts for each one before I started it - as the parts start arriving it spurned me into ticking of the list!

.... as it is I never did finish it  - sold it for a bus! But the theory stands, I just had to remove the image of a endless pile of stuff that I needed to do and turn it into small and satisfying victories!

BUS 90% finished.........INTEREST 0% have thought about selling it but probably just need a good arsekicking to get it finished.

Go to a show, have a chill out then get back and it it a good kicking, try to do something on it each day no matter how small.

I just see mine as a never finished, ongoing project. I just use it as much as I can and tackle jobs on it 'as and when'. I know there will always be imperfections on it that other people might not be aware of but I enjoy it all the same.
I think running a bus is a bit like looking after the Forth bridge. You just get to one end and the other end needs doing again.

Thanks guys ...

That helps ..

I only really started with the front panel inner and outer and am now half way around the bus and kinda slowed ..

I intended it to be done for vanfest ... yeah! maybe next year!

I just don't like leaving things .. if I see rust or something wrong .. I just gotta poke it ! I cant help it! trouble is I poke more than i fix!

Gonna spend 2 days of this bank hol weekend on it // and will report back!

( I'll stop poking and start fixing I promise! )

Cheers
