Hello everyone. I hope someone can help. Please also bare in mind that I'm not technically minded, so please reply in language that I'll understand.
Here goes....
After being frozen to death everytime I've recently driven my 68 Westfalia camper, I've decided to sort it out. I've found numerous interesting articles online on the subject, but a propex or similar heater is just way out of my budget.
I've found details on heater boosters that blow the hot air to the cab on US websites, but can't seem to find them in the UK.
Then I found the "T7 design" website and their inline blowers. http://www.t7design.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=87&products_id=235" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Will these work? Will I need 2? IE 1 for each heat exchanger and if so, how easy are they to fit?

Then I saw this 12v heater on their site. http://www.t7design.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=180" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Would this work??
I'm sorry if I'm being abit thick. Just trying to keep me and the family warm. If it makes a difference, my camper has been converted at Gasure to run on LPG as well as petrol. (Brilliant chaps and can't recommend them enough.)
I look forward to any replies. Thank you for your time.

I may be wrong but I think thats a heater that relies on being supplied with water from the engine cooling system, hence the little radiator sat on it, don't think it will work on an aircooled bus.

Whats wrong with your heat exchangers, if they are connected and working properly they should supply quite a bit of heat when the engine is running and warmed up, when we went to the Diner in the snow last year we had to turn the heating down in the panel van as it was too hot!!

Was just posting the same thing - that the 12v heater needed to be hooked into a water cooled engine, shame as it was all sounding good up until that point! If i could find one with the same performance and cost with having a radiator that would be great :)

I thought the heater was too good to be true. Any thoughts on the boosters? I've found old posts about the birdbird customs boosters, but they don't seem to sell them anymore. They've disappeared from their website.

I think the 1st link could work in helping to get the heat from the heat exchangers up into the cab a bit quicker, standard set up doesnt really 'blow' the hot air into the vehicle... mine doesnt anyway its more of a 'waft'

The blower wont generate heat, its just designed to push the air whether hot or cold faster down the pipe. What up with your heat exchangers, are they fitted?

One of the booster fans mounted in the central heater tube (Under the bus floor) would no doubt push a bit more warm air to the front of the van. However if your heat exchangers and all the pipe work is connected (and of the correct insulated type) your bus should be warm enough. Please note that many replacement heat exchangers have fewer fins inside the casing thus reducing the heat transfered from the exhaust. If you can get hold of a pair of genuine heat exchangers then the whole system will work a lot better.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm told that the heat Exchangers aren't originals but are fine, and that all the pipes are fitted and in good order. I'm going to get underneath as soon as I get a day off and confirm this. I do get some heat, its just not enough.

Ok, so if your heat exchangers are not genuine, that will probably mean a reduced heat output. Also, do have a lay under your van to check the pipes. Even tho you have been told that they are all connected, that may not mean that they are insulated. If they are not, that will mean a further reduction in heat getting to the interior. Let us know what you find...good luck

Also worth checking the cables from the levers are actually opening the flaps fully as this is a common problem as well as ensuring all the pipes are connected as mentioned above,

i was looking into this a while ago tosee if an inline fan would work, but only really to boost the air flow at low revs, mainly to help with de-frosting the screen quicker, but the air flow when everything is conected up right is defined by your engine speed, get all the seals sorted, the pipes insulated, and make sure the flaps are opening fully then just drive faster. :D

mine is bodged together currently and works fine, my friends westy has repro exchangers but fully re-sealed and insulated pipework, the rush of hot air when the engine revs sounds terrifying and burned my hand.
