I now have a new problem, the van starts and stops ok, the lights work and the battery has stopped draining

The indicators have stopped working and the brake lights or reverse light don't work either, along with the interior light.

I've looked in the Bentley manual and they're all on the same circuit.

Could it be that black box that i was on about previously???

All the fuses are ok too.

Reverse should come of the coil via a gearbox switch....
rear interior or front or both? doors open does the courtesy light function work?

That 9 pin black box of yours what version is it? does it have the extra brown wire leaving the case to chassis?

The early versions suffered from earth related problems hence the latter extra wire, clean up the screw the centre hole metal work and the metalwork its fixed to.....

check the earths on the rear light clusters and clean...

oh and replacements are hard to source and not cheap....dont expect change from a 50...

CIP1 do a version at $70 ish.....

NOS versions are hard to get and usually ££s

although get searching and you might be suprised....

It was fuse number 1

Although in my defence it tested out ok on the continuity tester, I've simply replaced it.

Stil got to check the reverse lights when the floor dries out.

Fuse might be fine but the tabs on the fuse box corroded - I used to get this a lot in an old beetle,
every so often I had to twist the fuses before the wipers or beam switch would work

buy yourself a fibre pen and clean all the blades and connectors there looking a bit grubby, you'll probably need a pen wth ten refils
