did you know.....

that the instrument lights can be faded down to no lights at all? Beeglebus suffered from this last week and a mate of mine told me that they dim down by twiddling the headlight switch round.

This was of course after I'd spent an hour trying to find any loose wires that may have solved the problem....

one twiddle later and lights restored!

Carole

I used to whack the dash to try and get mine working , until someone told me to turn the lights knob

mine appeared not to work at all, then i accidentally twiddled the knob in an attempt to get full beam (as my indicator stalk didn't do the job and i didn't know it was supposed to)

At the bottom of number 10 8)

Although this is the 1972 handbook which came with my bus, but I expect its the same

Same problem on Hank but no matter how much I twiddle the switch the instrument lamps don't come on and if they do on the odd occassion they are so dim you still can't see how fast you are going  , looking at a way of putting some LEDs in to light up the instruments instead.

Graham L ..the problem is the switch, not your lights, the resistor/dimmer bit in switch gets dirty/corroded thats why you will get it to work in at certain point then cut out again. not sure if you can buy new but you can test if the dimmer part is working on used switch with a meter reader

check on ebay theres a guy regularly sells switches NOS apparently along with a load of other NOS items based in Cyprus...he usually puts em as buy now or best offer I wouldnt bother on the best offer as he doesnt haggle at all..... if your carefull you can service these yourself....

Its a common mistake that people dont know about the dimmer, as said it usually gets dirty and the dash lights can turn off just by knocking the switch, take it out and put a NOS one in, solves all your probs. 8)

mines just off or on :? but then again you have to give it a good twizzle to turn it off, so i'm not too bothered, but they could be brighter!
