I was just wondering if any one has insulated the cab are of their bay, I was thinking of putting dynomat or an equivalent, under the rubber mat and on the inside of the front panel.

is this a good idea?

Thanks

Mark

ive done it on the cab floor and the walk through nice and quiet now with the other 40 odd square meters , can actually talk with inside voices !!!lol

It does on the doors,I used some roof flashing/lead look stuff.Cut it to size then heat the back with a blowtorch until its nice and soft before sticking it on.
The doors now shut with a solid thud and makes them feel solid
Should help sound reduction wherever you put it

did it make a massive difference?

it did make a big difference a lot less road noise ,hardly hear the engine at times ,and we can use inside voices and not have shout to each other anymore .........so yeah a job worth doing .........once you got interior out i recon it would take a full day to do

hope this helps regards

This has been covered a fair few times on here now.

Flashband and Thermawrap from Focus is the budget option, you can do the cab for under £40.

yeah Im going to get some of ths tomorrow, Wish me luck!

Doing the same now, with flash tape from screwfix (same stuff) Haven't got to cab yet - not sure if will do cab floor (on inside) but will do inside front panel, walk through and maybe see about putting some on underside, whilst it is all clean paint.
Screwfix stuff goes on really nicely, heat from a 500watt floodlight is plenty - few seconds softens it up nicely. Hairdryer around edges works well aswell. No aroma. Really tempted to do whole floor in the back, having done the engine bay...

Awesome clean looking job bud..

What fixings are those holding the tank in place? I just have two metal bands that bolt in - they don't look as nice as that! 8)

Fixings on the tank are what is commonly known as a 'bodge'!
I couldn't undo my straps, so cut them, thinking they must be easy to replace. Just haven't found any yet.
So I used some bonnet catches (over-center) in the mean time. I'd prefer to have your straps - it wasn't an 'upgrade' as such!

Naw dude, it's cool.. It looks 'retro' 8)

Anyone seen or used the Sound X stuff that is listed on ebay? The advert sounds like an honest appraisal of the product. I've already bought some Dynamat, but it would way too expensive to do the whole van IMO, so will save it for the noisey parts, hence looking at cheaper alternatives.

How much does it all weigh though? (I am rather fond of the performance of the van now)

The Dynamat I bought is very heavy - I think the figures are about 2kg per square metre - but then it is the weight that gives the sound-proofing qualities.

Angus - how many square feet is that so far? I'm about to do mine, and trying to get an idea of how much I need to cover the panels.

Thanks,
Nick

dynamatted mine, made a good difference in noise. front doors done too, have some more to do the cab area but not done it yet:
