Morning people,

I was wondering if anyone had any insurance recommendations. I used to be insured with Cherished, however after I moved to London, they wouldn't cover my postcode. The past year I have therefore been insured with Heritage which is basically Adrian Flux and pretty expensive and doesn't come with breakdown.

So, anyone uses a company they find well priced with a good service, I would be mad keen to hear from you.

Thanks
S

Hi

I used A-plan, seemed the best at the time, agreed value, helpful customer service and one of the guys there is active on VZI.

The main reason i went with them other than the price is that i knew if i had any issues i could voice them on the forums for all to see. This has also been done by people in the past and A-Plan have been quick to resolve any issues.

They are quick to answer their phone, email and even PM on VZI.

That being said it always pays to shop around each year as ALL companies make their money by people auto renewing and not being bothered to shop around.

The details I had are...
Dan Cameron
A-Plan Schemes
01635-879905

Hope that helps :)

Just renewed mine with

https://www.rhspecialistinsurance.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was with Just Kampers - not sure who's behind them - Carol Nash?? They were good on price last year but hiked it up this year
so I trawled around and RH above were recommended by people on VZi as good prices and good when it came to claims/breakdowns.

What also appealed to me is that they include free european breakdown cover and the total price was less than my JK renewal qoute.
Taking my bus to France so breakdown cover is important for me.

Yep - another vote for RH - they come well recomended and tops for customer service! Worth speaking to them to get a quote ;)

RH for me too.

What I can't understand is that I had to make a claim last year, after having an unfortunate head on with a cow at slow speed in the New Forest, resulting in an ins claim in the several 000's, and yet my premium this year was exactly the same as last! I called to check that they hadn't forgotten the claim I made, and they said it was all on record and the premium (£130 fully comp) was correct!

I was very pleasantly surprised.

As I was by prev comment re European breakdown cover, I didn't realise I had that !

I found Heritage (Chaucer) less than a new quote from RH, but noticed in the small print I must carry a fire extinguisher
for the insurance to be valid, which I'd never noticed before...

I noticed the same thing in my policy with AFlux last year... I wonder if they are worried about these buses setting on fire as much as we are!

I am with RH but they will only do agreed value if the bus is garaged. What about the other insurers mentioned in this thread. You guys getting agreed values for buses on the drive ?

Just renewed mine with A-plan, saved over £45 :D :D Might have been given a discount because they insure my T5 :?

RH for me for as long as I've had the bus.
States I have to carry fire extinguisher too, but I think that's because it's a campervan and has cooking facilities not because they like to catch fire.
European cover got my bus back from Switzerland last month with very little hassle...
Cheers

I'm with HIC (Herts) owned by Adrian Flux now so they won't quote against each other. Got a good deal though £183 for the year fully comp, keys, £2000 valuables, agreed value, 3 points. Forget about insurance breakdown cover, it's a rip off or cheap but very limited. I got AA £10 a month for roadside, recovery and onward travel, when it comes to renew and they up the price I just tell them I'm going with the opposition instead and they drop the price back down. This has worked two years in a row. I also have a good selection of tools and haven't needed to call them at all but it's good to know if the worst happens you won't have to leave your baby at the side of the motorway or pay a fortune for a tow.
