Ok. I have bought a new Smev two ring burner but in all honesty I can't justify the amount of money being asked for a unit for it to go in. I have and old B&q wall unit carcas so want to use that. Add some high gloss doors etc Any ideas or pics of your interiors please. Cheers

Changed this from the original to see if I get a better response. Cheers

Hi, I've got the double smev . Here are some pics of mine. The B&Q bits will be fine if your handy with carpentry. Just need to fit my buddy seat, table and tidy up the fridge area then Its complete.

Was thinking of getting the wood interior wrapped in a nice colour to match.

You could build it out of cheap Chinese plywood then skin the front in nice 3 or 6mm birch ply? Then use formica or other coating for the worktop?

You can just use a simple frame using 2x1 pine and pocket hole joins?

I did this, but used worktops I already had

I cut down my Dormobile interior in order to get a Rock & Roll bed in and delete some of he elements of the Dormy layout that were no longer working properly, namely a leaky Ice box and an aftermarket 3 way fridge which was now 1 way... I was also never fond of sleeping 6ft up in the air with my arse against the window and the lower level R&R is much nicer in that regard and also in speed of conversion. I'm left with lots of storage under the bed and in the kitchen unit, a good sink and the fresh water in the 1st cupboard.

Lots of people give these Dormy interiors away but I think they have some life in them and give a nice period finish! Clean the T trim and cupboard surrounds with methylated spirit and they come up like new. It takes a little patience but all that brown crusty **** comes right off.

I used some of the cutoffs to make good the finished article. I used the big side panel to finish the cupboard end (which was just a thin ply divider) and I also made a removable side table for the little one (seen stowed in underneath in first shot) -

I then did away with the Dormy wardrobe behind the passenger bulkhead, which I found a bit marmite and generally the wrong solution for me. Instead I made a magazine/toot rack. I also store the toilet chemicals in there and toilet lives under the buddy seat.

The magazine rack serves as a mount point for the buddy seat in lieu of the wardrobe. I love the Dormy buddy seats as you can un-mount them and turn them sideways for a comfy seating position with your legs out of the sliding door or take it onto the grass and get a floor level chair complete with backrest. I have a small low BBQ so its quite handy for when I'm cooking on that.

I've just chosen the fabric to cover the seats/bed so I'll hopefully be posting some of those up soon.

Hope it helps!

Nice, I threw my dormy interior away when I first got the van. In my defence it was shot, rotten for first three inches from base and stinking. That looks good though. They are all good ideas, going to start thinking seriously for this summer.
