I cut down my Dormobile interior in order to get a Rock & Roll bed in and delete some of he elements of the Dormy layout that were no longer working properly, namely a leaky Ice box and an aftermarket 3 way fridge which was now 1 way... I was also never fond of sleeping 6ft up in the air with my arse against the window and the lower level R&R is much nicer in that regard and also in speed of conversion. I'm left with lots of storage under the bed and in the kitchen unit, a good sink and the fresh water in the 1st cupboard.
Lots of people give these Dormy interiors away but I think they have some life in them and give a nice period finish! Clean the T trim and cupboard surrounds with methylated spirit and they come up like new. It takes a little patience but all that brown crusty **** comes right off.
When I got her -
Cut down, R&R bed and re-floored -
I used some of the cutoffs to make good the finished article. I used the big side panel to finish the cupboard end (which was just a thin ply divider) and I also made a removable side table for the little one (seen stowed in underneath in first shot) -
I then did away with the Dormy wardrobe behind the passenger bulkhead, which I found a bit marmite and generally the wrong solution for me. Instead I made a magazine/toot rack. I also store the toilet chemicals in there and toilet lives under the buddy seat.
The magazine rack serves as a mount point for the buddy seat in lieu of the wardrobe. I love the Dormy buddy seats as you can un-mount them and turn them sideways for a comfy seating position with your legs out of the sliding door or take it onto the grass and get a floor level chair complete with backrest. I have a small low BBQ so its quite handy for when I'm cooking on that.
I've just chosen the fabric to cover the seats/bed so I'll hopefully be posting some of those up soon.
Hope it helps!
