been driving about today trying to find somewhere than can suply me some nuts n bolts. im doing a every nut n bolt resto.

first place a visited told me there was a £10 spend limit  meaning if my order was less than £10 they wouldent sellto me.WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT.i thought times were hard?????

would use heratage but there a bit pricey for stuff like that

try Namricks

http://www.namrick.co.uk, I used to use them all the time when I had other classic cars

I use Namrick but only because Screwfix don't deliver here ;)

i use volksbolts to (but find them quite pricy now) and another dude on ebay who makes up individual stainless kits in small packs. I just recieved a full stainless restoration pack with all the trick hard to find bolts/screws, he uses VW spec sheets to source the correct type and by year as well.

his shop....

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Jez1964_VW-BAY-WINDOW-CAMPER-VAN_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ546556018QQftidZ2QQtZkm

stuff comes labelled and well packaged.

Volksbolts guy isn't happy with that - says he's ripping his idea!

Much cheaper to buy from Namrick, you just need to know your sizes.

If it were me i'd be pissed too, but what can he do? competition is only good for the consumer anyway :)

im too lazy go go find out sizes sort them and buy individually, surely much cheaper but 5 times the hassle. I figure by the time i work what i need, where to buy them, and to drive there and back its not worth it.

lazy bastards.....

you'd never catch me taking the easy route......now what was tha guys site again

Volksbolts will have complete sets individually bagged up, for say... the sliding door, for the front doors, door hinges etc. I would guess you could just say "i need stainless bolts for the engine lid" and he would have them ready to go.

Hi Folks : Alan from VolksBolts here..... we're a little like beetlegeuse...say our name three times and we appear.

We sell bags of parts kitted into application areas as mentioned above on-line so you just come along and say 'front bumper' or 'sliding door' and we send you a bag of bits.

When we go to a show we sell individual bit parts as well. We've pulled out of a couple as the Wife has not been well. :(

We can't really do individual parts on-line as the fees and charges are too high. We loose about 20% of all the money we take on EBay to EBay and Paypal fees for example.

The 'other guy' (mentioned above) bought a full Split Van kit from us and started selling knock-offs a week later. He even copied all of our non-stock improvements verbatim. He did the same with the V8 engine bits he sells - we vend these too, as does a chap in Cornwall whom we chat with from time to time. the Cornish chap sold him some stuff and hey presto...a week later. He copied some Vespa parts - he stopped doing these as I think the guy sent some lads round (presumably on vespas) to talk with him about it.!

Its a mercenary world at times : you just have to live with it. Personally we play fair and only issue parts that we have tried and tested and otherwise sourced from real hard-work and experience.

Like any business we have over-heads (marketting, I.T., facilities), taxes etc. Given the hours we work (on the computer and in the workshop) we are on under minimum wage - if we get more stuff to sell then we'll be able to pay ourselves better.

Don't forget - we also do High Tensile bolt kits for the front and rear axles (shock absorbers, spring plates, disc brakes etc) - kits for the type 1 and type 4 motors including exhaust studs etc and other fiddly little things like the correct electrical connectors that VW used - so you don't have to use those awful plastic collared squash-on ones.

Just remember : the more successful we become the more high quality correct parts we can source to help keep our VeeDubs running.! :!:

hello Alan,

That was very underhand of the other chap...i know i said competion was fair but thats a direct rip off of your hard work in researching the different parts, totally unacceptable tbh!. Ill be buying volksbolts from now on

Hello, spoke at Stanford hall, I think...... even managed a couple of freebies off you  .... now the vans back come payday I'll be dropping you a line, we all know what a pain at times it can be sourcing those awkward parts trying to get the right thread etc.....so a business like yours comes as a godsend to the likes of us normal family men that need to fit in work, familly and bus

the list is endless,

door mounting kits
dash mounting (ends and top in stainless)
full engine kits sp and tp
Bumpers
and on and on and on

It's a very useful service you offer - I'd like to wish you the best of luck with it!!

I now know where to get a set of bolts for my bumpers when they're ready...

Cheers

:)

Thanks for the continued support . 8)

We have literally just identified the dash top screws (and the air-vents) for a customer - so these are on tap now in stainless.

The corner screws we have in standard Pozi or a more space-age socket button (uses an Allen Key).

We have also literally just specified a full tinware kit for the Type 4 motors.

It's been a good month for working out what goes where as its been a bit quiet trade-wise.

We have some groovey new parts coming in for us to sample too : marine grade fuel line clips etc. Guranteed to clamp like limpets..!

The (stainless) bumper bolts we sell are polished up to look like chrome...though you can paint them if required to match the bumpers.

do you trade soley online through ebay? or do you have a separate website for information?

Im interested in the bumper bolts you mentioned 8)

we have web-based catalogues at http://www.volksbolts.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I need to up-date them a little though as our focus recently has been to run things through EBay (global coverage - and its in peoples comfort zone - though expensive to use with it!).
