Just noticed the rare short run engine lid, must be an early one

Yep I spotted that too, but I was drawn to it by noticing the exhaust being on the left hand side (assuming it hasn't had a 1600 transplant at some stage), which seemed to have been a feature of early Type 4 powered crossovers.
