Just thinking out loud really but if i decided to change my exhaust at some time AND fit J tubes instead of heat exchangers (think mine might be blowing slightly) how would i heat the cab?

propex is good but you have to muck around with gas and find a space for the bottle, they use roughly 110g of fuel continuously, obviously less on a thermostat.

I definitely prefer a petrol based heater like webasto or eberspacher, you plumb it into the main tank and dont have to worry about refilling gas in the smaller blue bottles (hard to find now). It also one less source of flammable substance in your van. One draw back is the petrol heaters tend to be a little noiser than gas.

You aint heard strongy's propex then

Trying to find a good petrol eber/webatso is quite hard so I settled for a diesel just waiting on a small tank to mount behind the bulkhead with filler neck to the engine bay....

i've taken my heat exchangers and heater channel out of my bay and will plumb my propex straight into the heater up the windscreen. i will be keeping the heater channel that faces backwards between the walkthrough for heating when stationary.

i was talking to someone in work about how they heat their boat, and he mentioned that you are meant to have a seperate tank for heater because you require to pay specific tax on the diesel/petrol you use. either that or you have to work out how much you use.

what i think will help increase the amount of heat (or minimize the amount of heat loss) would be to reduce the size of heater channel that you use. this will help to increase the pressure and therefore, the heat would get to wherever it is plumbed to, quicker. obviously this is only up to a certain expent without creating a restricted pipe and getting a back pressure. Another words, dont use a straw :)
