Basically, when I lift off the throttle in second gear, it pops out of second into neutral and then there's a bit of a crunch to get it back in. All couplings/bushes etc. are new and the 1800 CM 5-rib box was (supposedly) a reconditioned unit.

I'm pretty sure I've read some threads about this before but can't find any at the moment.

Any pointers?

Thanks

Steve

First thing to check is that the gear lever mechanism is correctly adjusted. If its not set right then the lever will not give the full travel required to fully engage the gear and it will then pop out on the overrun.

The crunch will be caused by it not being fully disengaged before you are pushing it back in, which prevents the synchromesh from working.

Went for a spin yesterday evening. First time I've done some serious driving in the van since MOT so building confidence slowly. It even goes up the country lane hills around here but need to sort out a 4 wheel alignment appointment before I do any A roads!

All other gears fine and it goes into 2nd OK, just jumps out when I come off the throttle. Checked the shifter position but can't see much wrong with this if it goes into all gears OK.

I'm thinking gearbox mounts next and then look more in to issues with 'box itself.

Any other pointers anyone?

Steve
