The main one is badly corroded front beam.

The rest was minor bits, ball joint, small bit of welding on the one of the outriggers.

Where can and how much for another beam.

Any ideas. I Live in Bridgwater, somerset.

Keep a keen eye on ebay matey! Thats where i picked mine up from for 50 quid! Or try FBI for a rust free one http://www.fbivw.com ?? Check through the links for other places. Can`t think of anywhere in the south west you could get one. I`d have thought you`d be looking at around 200 pound unless you grab a bargain.

A few holes right at the bottom, could poke finger into it ????

Have got somone coming around to have a look. Hoping he can weld it to get a bit more use ot of it. Then replace it when we get the bus done in a few years time.

THANKS for the offer Smudge.

Mines a 72 crossover with disc brakes.

are they the same :?: and where are you to.

they are different, 69s can fit a split beam no mods, later buses need brackets welded as the bolt pattern is different (wider/longer)

Bummer just my luck.

Have found someone locally who will be getting some from South Africa, next week. They are a fair bit cheeper than South West splitz.

Thinking aboutg replacing rather than patching it going top and bottom. Will only have to replaice next year???

How much of a big job is it. Bearing in mind i am one of limited capabilities :? . Am i going to open pandoras box when i start.

sorry fella mines early 69 so as Jonny says :(

Its not hard to change the beams over..I done my first one with the Mrs and the help of the hayne manual.....Have a read up fisrt.Soak all the bolts and bit in a decent Lub...not WD40 its no good for that...

The book says the beam should be suported and lowered down by a jack...ERM...CORECTION....A bloody big hammer was needed!! :D

You can get a patched beam through but more and more mot Guys are getting picky on them..Go solid rust free...a good coat of stonechip and you cant go wrong :)

Right down mate... :?

Fitting beams gets much easier when you hit the 10 mark ,then you have seen it all... :D
