Hi
Can anybody please help just fitted my new front dropped ball joint spindles and arms and just put the wheels back on i have 30mm beam to ground  and when i sit in the bus it drops onto the tyre 145/60/15
The bus has a bus station 4" narrowed beam
Its been set on the highest setting on the adjuster (has the adjusters been weld to far around ?)
Please any ideas? (coilovers?? )

And i am going to ireland in it and the end of the month

Do you mean 30mm (3cm) from the beam to the floor? I would talk to Mark at the Bus Station, and see if the adjusters can be moved, they can be fitted in situ, not sure if it could be moved in situ though.

Did you check that the torsion leaves were all OK? Sounds like you have a number of them snapped inside the beam.

suggest you take some pis of your adjusters, and general stance - if possible take pic without wheel on too, so we can see where the arms are pointing.........

Whose Dropped spindles are they, if they are transporterhaus/T2D then heres a pic of how they sit on a standard beam, on 175/55/15 wheel/tyre combo

Are you sure your adjusters are at the highest setting??

I agree with Graham, it sounds very much like the adjusters are not set at their highest.

Could you post a pic?

The removable toothed adjuster should be at the top not the bottom as I have seen some epople do. Also the arms sometimes need a bit of persuasion to drop to their lowest position. I jack both sides off the ground, put on axle stands and then use a bar to lever the arms down or leave the wheels on and get a person to stand on each wheel.....very scientific.

Thanks for all the posts about my dropped (can not move bus)
Was on the phone to Bus Station today and he can remember making and fitting the beam my bus is a dead ringer for his own one (back in jan 08 look at the blog) he was telling me that the last owner had asked him to weld the adjusters higher than norm so he could have more of a drop
Looks like its back to takin out the beam and replacing the adjusters
Looks like we are going to ireland in the wifes Signum
On the adjuster front mind i want to go up not down my adjusters are both facing down if i wanted to lower the bus i would put the adjuster up therefore moving the arms upwards and lowering the bus :!:

They are transporterhaus ones was on the phone to Alex today i think its the first set to be fitted to a Bus Station beam but i think the adjusters are in the wrong place

Our Bus Station beam had to have new adjusters fitted further round to get it to work with T2D dropped spindles, so it sounds like you're in the same boat.

I take it the wheels were to close to the tubs as well

Yep, sorry, my bag you are right.

Ok
A wee up date went back out to the garage tonight ( first time since the weekend could not face the bus  ) Removed the bolts from the adjusters and got a wee belt sander into it,pulled down the arms and got 1 more click out of it.
The arch to the floor was 19.5"
The arch to the floor now is 21"
So i am on the right track, i should just rip out the beam again and weld in new adjusters, but i just want to use it  and then fix it in the winter again plus i can not be ar@*d removing it all again

Alan

Why dont You take the flipped spindles off and put the stock spindles back on again therefore raising the bus 3 inches. You could use it for your Holiday then too. After youve been to the Emerald isle then decide if you wish to completley replace the beam etc ;) And get some photos up as It willl help everyone fix the prob

Hi you send your spindles down to get flipped

Alan if we had a stock pair of 68-70 spindles i'd send them to you. Unfortunately of the 20+ pairs we have every one is in some state of machining. By the weekend, they'll all be completed as dropped.

Anyone got some drum spindles they can loan?

Yup, and the adjusters had been welded so far round there wasn't enough adjustment to raise it enough.

I might add I didn't do the work myself! A bit beyond me.

Ok another wee update

I have changed the car details for the ferry and we are getting a loan of a car from my father n law for the trip,( will fit a towbar next week for the bike rack) we have found a wee cottage to rent 80 miles south of cork, so the hols can still go ahead just not with the bay  or a vw

Alex (transporterhaus) was on the phone today with a offer of std parts to get me on hol, but i just feel it would be to much of a rush now (and i have changed all the plans anyway) and was wanting to put a few miles on her before the trip, ( a good shake down) if you are looking for dropped spindles please use Alex he has been very good with me and has went out his way to help me and the work that he done on the spindles was first class.

Thanks for all the help with this post
Alan

I will get new adjusters when i come back from ireland and weld them in the correct place
