My 8mth old Laptop has to go away for repair to Acer. Power problems.

I am a bit concerned about my personal data on the Laptop. Do all my banking over the net etc etc. Can anyone tell the best way to protect it.
If i did a factory restore will it clear all of the details. Or is there a more simple way.

Sorry, bit of of a numb nutts when it comes to PCs.

Any help would be greatly apreached.

Thank you RD.

I reckon the safest way would be to back up all of you information onto recordable DVD's then format the hard drive and put the operating system back on.Thats if you've got an operating system CD,they don't usually give you one.

Maybe theres an easier way?

That wont clear it 100% unfortunately if you have a removeable drive (generally the case nowadays) pull it and send the laptop off..

Did not come with discs, but have created a factory defult disc. So that should do. All info has been saved to a ext hard drive. May try to format over the weekend.
