can anyone recommend some really good 12v led interior light not looking for bling colours just something that compliments

I used the OG fitting and just put LED bulbs in it - have since fitted LED tape in the roof hole (warm white) that hides away but gives good light - and have now put LED tape elsewhere for accent lighting

Not a fan of big bulky fittings and couldn't find anything I liked so stuck with the original one but made it more efficient - use warm white bulbs in two and have a white one in the centre

Nice - I went with 15W for my hidden uplight one (as you can't see the strip) - for the ambient lighting went with 5W but also put in a colour change and brightness controller with remote

This company cost more than those on ebay e.t.c. but pre-terminated all the strips to my required length also with a specified length of cable - really really helpful:

these strip of led lights are they not bare, as in there is no covers ,like a ribbon with leds and circuit board all exposed

I bought some from of all places IKEA !!

See Here for the Ikea link & Here for how they look fitted.

They are not the ribbon type, but are encased in a polycarbonate & slot together if required & are 12V so you just disregard the transformer.

Cheers

I bought these:

Then replaced the halogen bulbs with 1W LED's

Will be fitting more, once i have seen what i like, and run some thin cable up to the roof. Something along of the lines of the thin strips mentioned above.

Cheers!

Yes they are, however they are only about 7mm in width and tuck away behind the curtain top so are almost invisible when not on. If positioned carefully they can be very effective, with the bonus that they are stuck on so no drilling.

I like some of the others on this thread too though.

Where did u find the festoon bulbs for the original fitting lard?

What wattage did you use?

Thanks,

any tips for getting the wire down the C pillar? :-\

Erm, struggle !

What I did was use a length of Bicycle brake cable housing that was long enough to poke out of the holes I drilled at either end. Threaded it from bottom to top (after trying from top to bottom for a long time without success) just be aware that there are many pre-formed box sections hiding in there which try to make it difficult. It is very difficult to persuade the outer to come out of the other hole, so I used a the brake cable inner wire passed through the inside of the outer & a piece of stiff wire bent to use as a hook (or a bike spoke in my case) top pull it out.

I then attached the electrical wire & pulled gently to feed it back.

A quicky of mine fitted with Ikea colour changer mood lights, 4 off RGB LED strips and 2 off circular lights. Currently running on the Ikea colour changer unit, but have a much better controller ready to go in when I can be bothered :

I can extend the strips just by buying some more and sliding them up. Will need to install a house battery as they will drain a few uA per day when in "off " mode as there is a small mirco controller in sleep mode.
Probably draw a few hundred mA when in running mode, will grab the ammeter sometime and measure it.
