Lower brake reservoir

So our lower brake fluid reservoir is leaking and we can't find a new one!! Also been told you can't buy them anymore!!!! Just wondering if anyones got a solution or had this problem?

where is it leeking? i had problems with the pipe from the upper reservoir, there is a rubber gasket that is a nightmare to fit.

The bloke at the garage said it's the actual reservoir. I've looked everywhere for 1!

what yar van is it ? it may still be available from VW, have you asked them?

Part no on ETKA is 211 611 313 worth a phone call, but also worth checking its the right one for your van

It's a 68. Don't suppose you have the number to call em do ya?

just call your local VW dealer my parts man is on holiday at the mo otherwise i would have a chat with him.

If you dont manage to get a VW reservoir you can easily fit an aftermarket one as found at places like demon tweeks, car builder solutions or Merlin Motorsports (where I got mine). You will need a small reservoir, some blue braided brake hose, a t piece and some barbed fittings to push into the rubbers in the Master cylinder.

i did this for my mates split as he had the same problem. still cost him £50 so not cheap but better than no brakes!

another option is to plastic weld up your old one!

EDIT:just re-read and see its the lower reservoir - in that case just do away with it and replace it with barbed fittings, and pipe thru a t piece to your upper res. in the cab.

I live near this place so popped in but had a quick look and i got:
8mm Brake hose: FH013B
8mm T- piece: TP-5PO
barbed fitting:cant find it - but something a bit like: FAC-FFU1 - basically explain that you want to connect the pipe listed above - into your master cylinder using a barbed fitting. Measure the size of the 'hole' in the rubber and tell them the size and they will have something to fit.
Finally the above bits you dont have to J-clip but i did as a precaution.

There are other places than Merlin that do these parts cheaper - i just use em becasue they are good quality and local to me.

Thanks for the advice mate! Only other thing is how do you connect the 8mm pipe to the upper reservoir? It looks bigger than 8mm you see.

check first cos it isnt far off 8mm so it might just slip over!!! if not then use one of the bottles listed on the first page of the link I gave you above. These take all sorts of differnet adaptors on the bottom. when i did my mates split we used a small one like this:
