Any one on here own an apple mac? I have just bought a new macbook and love it, even though it is taking a little of getting used to.

I have a macbook and a g5 with a 30" and a 23" mmmmmmm!

Welcome to the club dude :D

I love my macs, if you need any help with anything just let me know

and I am sure it will last much longer, we had a 9200 at work and it was 10 years old and still running strong before we sent it to the glue makers :D and I have a G4 imac which is 4 years old and still work without any hick ups.

:D

The only problem i have with my macbook is trying to keep it white!

Life is so much easier once you learn some of the shortcuts like using F9 to swap between windows.

if you have 10.5 F8 is a great one for switching between screens on one screen, I have all my apps set up in 16 different screens it makes using a small screen so much more expandable :D

Jon, any info you want about Mac's call Sheldon. Thats what he does for a job and i know him and my sister have about 5 all over their house!

use expose's active screen corners so you dont even have to bother with F9.. :D

i look after 70+ Macs and several X-serves, daily, mostly pimped out G5s and some nice laptops including the new macbook air. 8) all our designers have 23" widescreens, i wonder if i could fit one in my shoulder bag :p

Thats not a job thats a holiday :)

I think you could post a macbook air to yourself the post people would never know :) what are they like? I have never used one yet, but I do dream about them.

why do you think i can afford to spend so much time on here? :p

Using a macbook air is 'surreal', you kind of think "thats too thin it'll never work" and takes a bit of getting used too. The screen is crystal clear, its amazing bit of design and engineering.

would you surgest buying one, or do you think they need to run along side another mac so its more of a business tool

If you travel, or want to space save or just impress clients 8) you wont beat it. But, in your case (i know your designer) i would always go for a big screen 22"+, a decent mid-range Mac Pro and add as much extra RAM as you can afford. Extra RAM is where you'll see the difference as CS3, Quark and office are all RAM hungry.

I cant wait to see the new 8-core in action, we should be getting some soon 8)

I have a Quad core at work...mmmmm....with 4GB ram, that flies along :D still next year I wanna get a new mac and I can't think what to get, 15" lots of ram or 17" 2GB ram

What do you think?

are you using an iMac? or MacBook?

if your using a iMac i would defintely go for the 17", 15 doesnt cut it anymore.

I use a macbook at the moment and I push it hard and it does the job well, but at work I am on a 30" and a 23" so going back to a 12" is well you can guess, I just wondered how you feel the speed is on them

Cheers Guys

I have a 13" screen which is fine for what I do. But as for smooth......it is unbelievable compared to my on Vaio. The Vaio is 5 years old now though.

It doesn't work with iplayer or 4od, which is such a shame but I'm sure it will come out eventually.

Daz, thanks for the info......I will definitely call him.

Hi

Also recently bought a 13" Macbook (Black One) as my daily machine after always running PC Laptops. Can't quite get away from some of my windows based packages so currently run parallels as an application running Windows XP as well as Leopard.

Parallels is not as stable as I expected and am trying to ween myself back to more Mac based packages.

Out of interest what mail tool do people use?, Mail itself or are people running Thundebird?, and if so is it OK?
