Population of Early Bay, I call on your experience and knowledge to hopfully help me out!!!!

As part of the work I was doing under the bus I decided to overhaul the brakes - sticking with standard but replacing all parts. This included a new master cylinder. The first problem to over come was the issue of 2 outlets on the new cylinder vs 3 on the OG. Easily resolved with a Tpiece and some brake pipe.

The issue I have is with the lower reseviour, in my haste I ordered a new one along with the MC from Machine 7 upon receipt it was clear that the 2 are not compatible......in fact it appears that there is no reseviour available that will fit on a 69 MC!

I then decided I would just use the OG res of my knackered MC, however, as I tried to remove it just crumbled in my hand!

So the problem I have is no reseviour and no idea what to do next?

Any ideas, where I could get an OG reseviour from? Is there any way of getting around this?
Help, this is now the only thing getting in the way of using the van!

Fear not i can help with all of your braking woes, as i have recently been through all of this with my 69 westy.

i had the same problem, i ordered a MC for my bus but it did not have enough outlets, and i didnt want to use t-pieces, so the only option to get it right was to use the ATE original part from heritage, it has all of the correct outlets in the correct places, to get it right and safe first time. Machine 7 dont sell the 3 input / brake circuit MC they only sell one which says "will also fit 68 and 69 vehicles" which it does not. My advice would be send this one back before its too late and get the correct ATE unit, it comes with 2 x new brake light switches too.

as fo the reservior, i only need the upper one, which i got from Karman Konnection, but i think they do the lower one too, which will be correct for your van. M7 dont sell the lower reservior. or the upper one for that matter.

I searched high and low for the correct reservior, and there was not anywhere that sold the correct one, so i pressure tested my existing one and found it to be fine, i know you cant do this, so you'd better ring KK.

hope this helps mate

So been on the heritage site ...... More confused now :)

There are 2 different MCs on there that may fit my van and they are like a £100 more than the one I have which I can still run with a T piece.

I'll get onto KK in the morning and see if the have a reseviour.

yeah it is confusing looking at the websites, i rang around, and spoke in detail to heritage, so i was sure they had what i wanted, as i wanted an exact price and stock level on the LHD unit. Then i went down there 100 odd miles away, (i was desperate that time!!) to get it. They will do you some discount too if you ask. The ATE one is more expensive than the one you have, as i had the same one, the main thing to remember is the M7 is not the right one for your van, i went over this many times and thought "you cant mess around with brakes". when you hold them both in your hand you will know the extra money was worth it.

post up how you get on mate, and KK will help you out no end.

hope i've been a bit of a help!

cheers

Austin
