Ello folks,

My bus developed an annoying misfire causing a stuttering effect on the way home this afternoon and just wondering if anyone has any ideas what might be the cause? It was fairly intermittent and there is the possibility that one of the HT leads had come loose.......I don't think it's the points as it starts up fine and idles perfectly and timing etc are all newly set and fine but just wondering if the condenser might be to blame or whether it's more likely to be a fuel issue, maybe the pump, as it was most noticable at high speed.

Many thanks, any suggestions would be gratefully received

Hello Olly, I've had a misfire for ages, and cured it with a new set of plugs.
Before you say you've already replaced them, the 2 sets of dodgy plugs I previously fitted were brand new as well...

Cheers for the suggestions fellas, I'll look into both of those things as I'm pretty sure I'm due a fresh set of plugs and I've had doubts about my fuel filter in the past.....

Many thanks and hopefully I can sort it quicjly, it's pretty unnerving stuttering away at 60 lon the motorway!

A fuel blockage will cause loss of tpower while at speed as well as the other simptoms

Hi!

I had spark plugs changed, then had a miss fire some short time after, found that one of the new plugs the gap had closed right up. Never found out why, and never did it again, but that was the cause of my missfire.

Aside from that, check points and condensor.

Fuel/ignition, go through everything. I once had a spring come of one of the centrifugal weights in the distributor and this meant it was advancing oddly causing similar symptoms.
