A quick update to this thread. We’ve decided to sell our campervan Monty. Of course it’s always a bit difficult to make this decision after nearly 14 years of ownership and constant improvement and maintenance.
My wife is finishing work soon and we are looking forward to longer trips away. Also we want to do some ‘wild camping’ so want to be independent from campsites sometimes. So therefore a bigger campervan with a bathroom would be needed.
So Monty will eventually have a new owner to carry on the good work of maintaining this historic vehicle.
I’ve advertised on here and on Car and Classic website.
I just hope the next vehicle is as reliable as Monty has been, although I know we will miss the Aircooled vibe.

That’s a tough one Mike, but time moves on and we have to make the best of it. We’ve had similar discussions and in fact hired a brand new T6 last summer to go over to France for 2 weeks when our own van was playing up, great to drive and had all mod cons but lacked ‘character’. Decided that for time being we’d keep our van but look to hire new if we go over the channel again, luckily we have a hire place up the road and know the owner

It’s great that you’ve looked after and experienced the air cool vibe with Monty for 14 years, lots of amazingly happy memories to cherish, and good luck with sale

Hi Mike,

I’m sure Monty will go to a good home and any future owner will be very fortunate after all the hard work and dedication you’ve put in over the years. I’ve really enjoyed your updates over the years and found your tips and advice so useful.

Good luck with the new van, I think it’s perhaps something Gill and I will also be doing in the not too distant future.
