From the enquiries I have been making I'm guessing business must be slow, lots of builders offering great deals right now.

I decided to go with Andy Hall from GMR before he puts his prices up. I think he was one of the main men at Serranos when they were building quality engines and after he left it all turned to ****.

top bloke to talk to, and uses only quality parts with good pricing right now. 6 pages of 100% +ve feedback on the Samba is no mean feat. I gave him a call on his UK number which goes through to LA and he was very impressive. Just finilising spec on a turnkey 1914 with Bergmann porsche cowl and alternator 8)

at his prices for this engine, and the US conversion with VAT, duty and postage, id be lucky to buy a stock 1600 recon in the UK

Looks good Johnny - would be VERY interested to hear some more details as far as cost, import, timescales etc - I assume by 'tunkey' you mean absolutely everything (tinware, electrics etc etc) - there isn't a huge amount of specific detail on his website - fair enough, he sounds like a busy chap, and you can't argue with all that feedback! PM if you prefer....

Angus

Going you know you want to  , the panel I've just bought has got a 1776 in it so I'm waiting to see what thats like compared to the 1641 in Hank, can't wait

Hell yeah!

I abandoned an oval project before buying my bay, it had a rancho pro comp Porsche pattern discs on each corner etc. etc. and
I had planned a 2276 IDA motor to go in it. Lack of space and time meant I had to drop it so I didn't get it all out of my system.

I also had an 1835 oval but never raced it.

The westy is a little more practical for getting to the strip.

l'd love to put the new panel down the strip but I don't think a 1776cc is going to get me under the USB target time, but happy to give it a go

OK, you'll have to let me know when there is next an opportunity to give it a go

Maybe one day in the future!

Quite fancy taking it around Spa, and the Ring will be a must!

Done the Top Gear track so far....(more to come....)

I think he treats every job as a bespoke and builds only to order, which is good as you know what your getting isnt rolling of a line so to speak. This is probably why there isn't much detail on prices, but he does seem very competitive. Flashy website can be attractive and also worrying, take bergmann for example.

Andy was frank and honest and as far as i was concerned gave really good advice on what i should be looking for, just need to finalise the spec and splash the cash. :D
