On a particularly boring journey back home tonight from Stoke I had a thought....what do you reckon the most restored classic vehicle make is?

Bit of a wooley question but I was thinking VW Bus must be up there at the top based on numbers....mini's e.t.c. may be more restored as they probably rot quicker :D - I also assumed top marque vehicles (Ferrari's e.t.c.) don't tend to get restored as they are probably wrapped up in a garage for most of their life - so it would be a type of classic that gets used, was produced in large volume and is at the stage where most are being restored or have been restored already?

Things like Fords may well have perished before classic examples of the escort e.t.c. became popular?

Anyway - I reckon VW Beetle, just cause that's all I could come up with whilst ambling down the (not very exciting!) A14

I would think a VW is on top of the list but Ford's Mustangs and Chevy's Camaros must be up there too, unless you are talking UK restos only.
Batmobiles maybe ?

yeah, even without my VW head on - I reckon the VW beetle as well! there is that many of them span such a long time its got to be up there.

Yeah i would say VW has to be at the top, dont forget MG's though, they must be high up there.

the mini has to make top followed by beetle,mg bgt, stag, moris minor, type 2 ,2cv in no paticular order

mgb, moggy, mini etc I agree, beetles though I wouldn't be so sure, depends on how you describe restored.
There are probably more original beetles out there than mgb's or even minis, dub owners are more likely to drive a tatty og paint beetle or t2 and there are no shortage of original dubs out there.
when was the last time you saw a ratty old mgb or early mini, most have been restored and many reshelled.

aircooled owners are more of your hands on type and know that when something aint broke just lower it

Ford...Fix Or Repair Daily........

...restoration starts when it is registered ;)

OR

BMW.....Bringen Minen Workenbox...said in slightly Allo Allo Germanic accent....

I would say it depends on the country......

UK Moggie/Mini/Beetle.... :?

The old Jaguars are a popular motor for restos as are old Ford zephyr's and Zodiac's. But i reckon Aircooled volkswagens are in the top somewhere, thats beetles, Type 2's, Type 3's and Karmann ghia's. The lot

I wanna get hold of a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T some day, do it right up and drop a 7.0L Hemi engine in it :D 8)

My 69 440 R/T at the pod around 1983 or 4, in the days before I swapped my hair for a belly
was running mid 12s, no nitrous, no slicks and no trailer, drove it there and back up the M1 and never turned down a challenge.
Grown up since then, amazing how kids make you so responsible :D

Swapped it for a 69 GTO convertible with a manual box and a big block motor,
but thats another story.
