Hi,

Got to get an MOT and was fixing an issue with my headlights - that's sorted but think I knackered the headlight switch as now dash lights and high beam indicator light aren't working (they do if I put the terminal to another live contact on the switch)

I've got another switch on order but was wondering if this would be an MOT failure or not? I could just put the terminal onto an ignition live so the dash lights come on with ignition but the indicator light for main/dipped beam wouldn't work - is it worth waiting until after I fitted the new switch or are dash lights something that would be tested?

Dash lights are not a requirement, but lights that indicate something are.

As in if it has something fitted it then it should work..... hopefully VWHeritage will get my new switch to me tomorrow so fingers crossed that fixes it and I'll get it booked in afterwards

Mine were always so dim you could never tell if they working or not!

Let me know what your switch is like ... mine is knackered also

According to the MOT testers manual:

"on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986, the ‘tell-tale’ illuminates when main beam is selected."

So on your bus the lack of Main Beam warning should not fail it.
