Gave up with stock and the vent windows and bought some genuine VW sliding windows from Heritage (big thanks to Alex). Arrived this morning and had a go at fitting, then this happened:

Cue mad rushing around trying to cover the windows. Black bin bag taped into place:

Then cardboard wrapped in cling film:

The law of sod is not on my side. Better luck tomorrow.
 
Rain. Rain. Rain. Gale force winds. Rain. Hail. Hail. Rain.

No progress on the bus today and starting to dream of warmer climates! :(
 
The few bits of rust on my window surrounds were repaired. Was going to sand down and either just waxoyl or fill but wanted it done properly.
