Here are a few pics of my early bay bought only 4 weeks ago for £350!! It's already at the garage waiting for the rotten panels to be cut out and for it to to sand blasted. I 'll update with progress

I know, some arse sprayed his name on it whilst it was parked on the driveway of the previous owner. A good respray will sort that out!

Here's some more pictures of the van in a stripped state. Just waiting for it to be picked up to have it bead blasted. Should be a clean shell by the time I get it back, hopefully!!

Just had my bay back form the sand blasters. Quite pleased with the result, the sand blaster also sprayed the bus in a red primer and did the whole lot for £300 including collection and delivery. :)

Bought a load of panels and parts from Schofield, so I'll be getting as much of them welded on as possible over the next few weeks

Thanks, I'm aware that he used a fine glass beading for the chassis (not sure what grading) and sand blasted the underneath

What sand blaster did you use? Didn't know there was anyone local to us (also form Telford)
Might be an easier option for me and save loads of time!
Any major plans for the camper?

Yeah it gives me a better idea of how much welding needs doing underneath and I've got a clean shell to work with. The blaster that I used is a nice chap called Chris Hazel, he's based in Ludlow, Shropshire. He specialises in vintage vehicles and uses less abrasive materials.

Slow progress getting some of the panels welded on, its slowly taking shape though. Planning on doing the lower quarter panels, front panel and then concentrate on doing the underside. I've also dropped the engine and I'm going to purchase a top end rebuild kit to increase the power a bit.

I'm also un-decided when its ready..... whether to change the colour from its original colour, Neptune blue to Pastel white, not sure yet?

Great work looking good,i have a 1970 Bay also and will be starting a resto real soon.
Looking forward to more pics.

Nepture blue rocks , my single cab is that colour , I like original colours ,dunno if I like pastel white on top...

Have you had the courage to remove the belly pans?

Well done and bargain bus... 8)

Thanks for the comments. I've decided to keep to the original colour of Neptune blue. Haven't removed the belly pans yet, got that to come.

I saw the bus parked up someone's drive just rotting away and knocked door. He just wanted to get to get shut of it and obviously I took advantage of that!

Been a while since last updated and a lot has happened since last post.

I've had to move my van from the garage is was being restored at. I wasn't at all happy with the work he was doing on my van. His welding was shite and as you can see for the pics he liked to use filler.

Anyway I have found a decent place and a nice chap called Mark at Borderrestoration.com, he's already done more on my van in a week than the previous garage did in 6 months. Had the belly pans cut off and I was pretty pleased with the underneath. Bought some bargain front chassis rails from Southern Kombi parts as mine are fooked.

Nice to see something happening with the van :D
Any idea of how long the work will take?
You know where i am if you need any help with anything (well i can make the Tea!)

Pleased with the progress on the chassis. Got the drivers side front chassis rail welded on. Top hat section, jacking points and out riggers are on.

Mark at border restoration is doing a fine job http://www.borderrestoration.com/index.htm
