Luckily for me, I've had no work booked in today, so I've spent the time under the '68 :D

I've finished the rear suspension, I'm going to leave it at a one spline drop for now and once she's back on the road, if I'm not happy, I'll invest in the adjustable spring plates........

I've also taken the front beam off today - I'm surprised how easy it all came off, especially as it's never been off before.......

Now, I've just got the lovely job of cleaning the underside up and giving it a good coating of chassis black...........

It's been a while since I've done anything to my van as funds have been a bit tight and I can't get on with the interior as I still haven't go the windows in (but that's another story :| )

I've given the underside a nice coat of chassis black and dropped the accelerator linkages into a local machine shop so that he can make up some new bars etc as there was far to much ware in the originals. I've also fitted up the drivers door fully and am even more happier with the red and blue combo.........

It's called "Metal Paint" by Carplan. It's like a smoothrite type of paint in an aerosol. I picked it up in my local autoshop, it covers well and feels pretty tough, so hopefully it'll work well on the suspension

I've had very little work this week, so managed to strip and clean the front suspension..........

Here's the original ball joint lump, it's solid but crusty.....

and here's the cleaned up king & link split beam ready to be fitted tomorrow :D

Bit of an update - I've got all the parts sorted for the running gear. All new brakes, pipes and cylinders. Got the King & Link pins all sorted and swapped the old warn steering box for one that came off a van that was taken off the road about ten years ago...... I can't wait to get the wheels sorted now so I can see how low it'll sit......

I hope too - We've got our house up for sale at the mo and the new house we want hasn't got a garage (YET!) so I need to get it finished as soon as :D

Looking forward to see it on its feet.

I'm (slowly) putting the same set up on my bus so i'll be interested in seeing which tyres you go for on the front.

:D

I'm not sure what tyre combo to go for yet - I've got a set of new 185 14's sat in the garage, so I might put those on and see how it sits. I've been trying to see what other tyres people are running but it looks like most people have gone for a 15" wheel but I'm keeping the stock 14's :?:

I've got 175/70 14 on the front at the moment and its just lowered on adjusters, on the ball joint beam and one spline at the back.

It's difficult to judge tyres as most people going the KnL route fit adjusters aswell.

(My bus is also Neptune Blue)

:)

That's what I've been finding too - I can't slam my van totally as I won't get it in or out of my drive. Plus I'm turning into a grumpy old bastard and want a semi-comfy ride

Neptune blue tin tops rule :D

great work, old question about the windows, where did you get the rubber and what silver strip did you use? was it merc trim? windows look great in the new deluxe.

I got the rubbers from Status VW........

They don't stock the proper corner bits though, so I'll look out for those at a show some time....

Picked up a complete Westfalia Continental interior and got all excited, so I just had to trial fit it :D
