my vw t2a 1970 bus restoration

hallaaa !

i just want to present my new bus that i just bought , i am from Romania here we do not have allot of t2a buses they are mostly t2b , i am opened for any suggestions recommendation questions or whatever so i hope you will comment about it ..

the engine is 1300 cmc ... i just started the restoration but it is hard because we do not have parts or a shop with new parts ...

i have added some pictures from the spare tire space , the space was covered with a metal sheet , because you have seen that the luggage space was modified for an animal or something who knows what the car served as in Sweden , so the spare tire place was filled with water and some peeled paint and a lot of rust .... and because that the trunk was a cage the metal sheet that it`s covering the engine needs all to be changed ...

so i will start the topic all over again because i don`t think people like to navigate away from the forum so i will put here all the pics and the little story of the bus ... enjoy !

those are the first pics i took with the bus . i saw the bus in someone`s yard , it was no one there so i jumped in .. i was in love

now the second time when i went there , the lady called me she said she want`s to sell it so i took my friend jump in the car drive 180 km , got there watched again the bus from every angle , change the battery because i tried to start it but nothing , so give another try and surprise .. it started at the first try , the brakes where stuck so we had to give him a little push , the bus had not been started for nearly one year..[/img]

after two months of negotiation with her i had a deal , so took 2 friends this time run there pay her take the papers and go ...

after 100 meters there was some leak in the back

off course the fuel pipeline was broken , cut it plugged in and .. away we go to Bucharest..

the car run good all those 180 km ... the driver`s window does not open imagine that outside were like 40 degrees C .

so now with the car in Bucharest the work begins .. slow but i am the only one working on it an since i don`t have a garage yet i am moving a bit slow , but here are some pics since the bus is in Bucharest ...

first wash under ...

next spare tire from front goes away ..

then the projectors..

then every thing that was in the back (the cage , home made jail bars , carpets , passenger seats )

cleaned a bit

i tried to clean it..

tried something for the seats , because i want to keep the original tapestry

works pretty good

and something i forgot about .....,

TADAAA ! it was filled with water ..

put on it some primer to keep it in good shape

the sliding door was not working well and i took it off cleaned one part of the locker and clean the slide , put on some sprayed lubricant ...

front bumper off .. some bolts were broken and when i pulled the rubber steps was not a really good surprise ..

today i took out the left door window lifter without to remove the windows it took a little time but ..


the new window holder looks good

the new (used) 1/4 front opening windows ..

they will need some cleaning but not now ..
