Hey guys,

rearly sorry guys, got ask even though its embarrasing
but as i am a newbie please forgive me.

I see in some places it says narrow beams 2 to 4 inches
is this the distance the front wheels are pulled in centrally ?
do you have to have smaller diameter wheels/tyres on the front
if you narrow the front ?

sorry for such basic question but need to start to build some knowledge lol

cheers

No such thing as an embarassing question duder!!

Yes, 2-4 inch (and sometimes more!) narrowed beams have a reduced front track by that amount.
You don't necessarily need smaller wheels as a result, but you wouldn't narrow a beam without lowering the ride and it's this lowering that necessitates smaller diameter (lower profile) tyres at least so you don't foul the wheel arches.
Often a very narrowed and slammed bus will also have 'tubbed' arches - the wheel tubs (the part the seats sit on) are made taller to allow the front wheels to sit higher in the arches - and hence make the van lower. There's always a compromise to be made with tubbing - that space has to come from somewhere and so seat bases can be modified so that the original seat base height is retained (or seats with low bases can be used) - otherwise you'll get a crick in your neck (unless you're a short-arse!).

Hope that helps!!

dont be embarrased to ask mate, all gotta learn somehow, this is a 4" narrowed beam with Heritage Fuchs on, no tubbing and no rubbing. Its my daily, i was a bit worried about how it would drive but its fine wouldnt have it any other way.
