Narrowing is it worth it?

Thinking of getting my bus a nice narrowed beam but it is really worth it what are the disadvantages?

depends on if you like the look and if your going LOW personally I dont like the narrowed look but horses for courses
 
I like this idea, how much does it cost though. I can't do it myself as I am totally inept at anything mechanical/technical although I expect one of my techies will do it for a few drinks :p they love working on the old ones. Got visions of having to replace loads of bits
 
the pic with the standard width beam looks better imho. but if you stuck a set of alloys on it would make it look awsome with a narrowed beam
 
Some busses can pull it off but im not a big fan of narrowed beams, they dont look right IMO.
Defo a job for the profesionals though, if you're gonna lower and narrow your beam it needs to be done by someone in the know.
 
by narrowing you must surely change the handling for the worse because the track is thinner.......people put wide tyres/wheel spacers on cars to widen the track and improve handling...your doing the opposite :?
 
Mine is narrowed, but doesn't look low enough to justify it really. If it were not narrowed, the tyres would seriously rub on the arches though.

It needs some skinny tyres and some dropped spindles. But I don't like skinny tyres, and can't afford dropped spindles.

When I can afford spindles, it may get tubbed wheelarches ;)
 
i'm not a huge fan of the narrowed beam if it is going to make a noticable difference in handling or visual appearance, but if you are considering it because the wheels you want to fit will rub or a new brake setup will increase the track too much then i suppose its one of the few options available to you.
 
Go for the narrow 8) as airtime has said its all about doing it just enough :mrgreen: Mine is 3.75 inch narrow and gives me a turning circle of the gods and has improved the ride for me no end (but i did have a new beam and shocks mind :wink: )

To narrow looks weird on bays, splits suite it fine imo :D
 
ill be running narrowed as im fitting cookie cutters +adapters and dropped spindles adding about 1 inch each side so i need to be narrow to stop the rub.

I dont like 5-6 inch narrow jobs even on splits, alothough they suit it more, it just makes me think... 'Trotters Independent Trading' :lol:

For me, Easy's bus has the perfect width and height for a bay, not too much but enough to give that 'to cool for school' look 8)

If you go narrow you definitely have to go low.
 
TBH I don't like the narrowed look at all, narrowed for a brake wheel combo is fine, but I'm really
tired with the pissing competition narrowing. :lol:

i agree, and, at what point does it become dangerous?
...was that dude that flipped his split on its roof at EBI2, on a narrowed beam?
 
don't really like the look, would only do it if I had to like others have said.

I love the look, but if you are carrying the family round in it surely you want them all to be as safe as possible?? Narrowing the track MUST affect the handling, i don't care what anyone says it makes your van more unstable....and the proof is that Split falling over on it's side on a roundabout after skidding on derv! :shock:

When does the look of your van come before safety? :|
 
Done it before & wouldn't bother again.

I'd rather spend the money on a pair of CSP front discs.
