Hi there - just 'launched' our new website about our very early '68 Bay camper van. It will grow, but for now hopefully it may be useful as I start to try and get her back on the road again after 5 years stationary....
Hope you enjoy it so far!

Hi great to see another canterbury pitt on the site, I hope you realise that they are as rare as rocking horse poo. If you do a restoration please retain the interior. Please post some pics of the interior. Do you have the wardrobes at the back. If you have I will be dead jealous because mine are missing. Have a look at my posting on 68 canterbury pitt in the gallery.
Looks like you have a great bus there, get her back on the road asap I want to see it in the flesh
regards

The Doc. (aka bluey68)

cheers mate - I will get some better pics of the interior as soon as I can - be a few weeks as I am in Surrey and the van is in Somerset!
I have no intention of changing the interior, especially once I found out how rare it was a few weeks ago - works so well anyway - no wardrobe though. Look forward to being able to use her again and show her off! :D
I'll have a look for your pics - never seen another one!

Found the pics Doc - great to see and learn a little more about the conversion - have commented there!

Excellent - Id like to have a section devoted to Canterbury Pitt's (see the volunteer expert post) as weve got couple of owners here now .. if anyone wants to do a write-up ?? :D

Don't know enough about them to do a write up, but happy to provide any pictures you want to use - I'll get some more of specific details and pics of the inside when I am next with the van.

thats fantastic mate - Im reinstalling my t-stat and fan flaps soon enough and that site gives me the pics to guide me thru! Cheers matey :D

This bus was sold by high on life, however when I spoke to him he had lost the contact details for the buyer. I know high on life restored it and I believe the colour is beige. I really want to see this van because it still had the storage cupboards and little wardrobes over the engine bay. Looked for it at shows last year but with no success. If anybody knows of its location I love to know about it.
Also I would like to do an article on canterbury pitt but I need to collect some more information before I do.

Hi again
just read your thread on justkampers. I was interested by Dave Eccles reply. I believe the two vans he mentioned are the one restored by high on life (location now unknown) and the one he used in his book on camper interiors but that was in a sorry state and I am not sure of how original it was. Now we have two more yours and mine plus another one on early bay that was originally a cp but had the interior removed. At this rate we will need a canterbury pitt bay register. Lets hope we can find some more.

Im all for starting a little mini-register on the site here ..maybe as part of the history section ..

Been looking around a bit myself, and mine does indeed have the 'wardrobe' in the back with the curtain to cover it - just a hanger rail really! Then there is the small vanity/shaving mirror inside a small cabinet. It is a different bed layout to yours Doc - but same table top material and leg (grey 'marble'!) I have a cabinet along the nearside of the bus - I have a feeling that this may not be the original layout, as it is chipboard, where as the rest is ply....
I don't have any folding stove though, mounted behind the passenger seat. There is a shelf/cabinet mounted between the front seats though, which is very usefull....I'll wait to get some pics - picture speaks a 100 words etc!! :D

At last, after a bit of a break, going to get back to this, so hopefully more pictures to add soon!
First thing is to get her rolling - one rear wheel is seized (guessing the drum brakes) so got to get that rear bolt off etc first, before trailering her nearer to me up here to work on....really looking forward to getting back to her I have to say - its been far far too long!

Angus in the for sale section a while back now someone had one of the folding passenger seat stoves and if memory serves I dont think it sold so it could be worth doing a search......
