New carb ???

Did a carb rebuild today . Engines running a lot better just wont idle very nicely.
I've got a bocar carb
Ron on here tells me it may b best to invest in a new carb?
Not decided if to strip carb again or buy a solex?
I hear cog box sells um
Where else sells solex carbs , don't wonna spend silly money t b h !

Gave vw heritage a call sat to order some parts. There 34 pict carbs around £145 . Anyone know if there ok?

Think the new carbs are better than they were but still a bit hit and miss so I have been told. Cogbox were about £180 to do mine IIRC. Plus the cost of a secondhand solex if you haven't got one already. Well worth it. Fit and forget once done.

keep an eye out on ebay or swapmeets etc.. then do a rebuild on a solex if you can get one its what i did, i managed to get a genuine made in germany solex for £60 off one of the forums gave it a rebuild and i've never looked back, prior to that i'd been through atleast 3 bocarbs trying to get a good one!

I can vouch for cogbox having seen one of their refurbed carbs on Thursday on my mates own van. I've only seen one mind. They look brand new, amazing, are tested so run 'out of the box' all he had to do was play with the idle. He's well happy and he knows his vw's as he's a top class restorer. He said he'd paid around £180/190?

With cog box I think you have to give them your old one. I think they ask for a solex don't they?
Not sure if they would take my bocar carb ?

James most carb rebuilders wont take the inferior Bocar or Brosol carb in exchange , has to be OG Solex give Gerit Rage a look hes been rebuilding them for 30 plus years so has a lot of experience does a really good job
