Hi
Here at midland early bay we are always looking to add extra value and look for gaps in the marketplace or offerings that will suit earlybay owners. We've been working on a few and are now in a position to offer these to gauge interest in whether its worth persueing to full production on these so looking for some expressions of interest at this stage.
All of these products are made here in the UK and are not imported goods.

Dampers for Dropped Spindle Buses
Two offerings here
1. An adaptor kit for the stock bugpack coilovers that allows shorter springs to be fitted and therefore not raising the height of the bus back up. Kit consists of 4 machined adapters (2 for each damper) and 2 x competition coil springs) These have been extensively tested on Monty and worked really well with a good ride and no bottoming out. Kit price of £140.00.

2. New Fully adjustable Gas Dampers with fully adjustable spring plates and coil springs, the next stage on from above and not cheap. These again have been tested on Monty and allow you to adjust the height and damping. Price for 2 new dampers with new coil springs. Final price tbc and quantity dependent but in the region of £225 for the pair.

Rear Seatbelt Upper Mounts (Coat hangers)
Designed to fit to the standard rear rail mount but enables the fixing of a top mount similar to front seat belt set up instead of the naff side on units available. Top mount is approx 300mm above existing mounting below the glass. mounts go down to engine cover floor and have a bracing piece ensuring they do not move during braking etc. These units also enable the fixing of seat belts in panel vans without the captive nuts in place (will require welding or bolting to the vehicle) £135 a pair, £70 each
(suitable seatbelts can be supplied at extra cost)

Beetle Gearbox into a Bay conversion kit
Allows the mounting of a 1302/3 gearbox into a bay window bus for more relaxed cruising. Kit consists of Adapter bracket for gearbox, Extension piece for Gear Linkage, Extn piece for Clutch cable and new clutch cable. Instructions on how to fit it.
excludes the gearbox £175 each for complete kit

If any of these are of interest can you please express interest below, thank you for you time

Hi Graham,

I'd be interested in the rear seat belt mounts brackets....finances permitting obviously!
Only concern would be what they would look like...?

Cheers

As elegant as possible and hoping for powder coating within that price,

I would pick a set of coat hangers  from you when I'm there next , nobody that I know does them here.
Powder coating would be a nice touch.

Graham, any chance of some pics of the prototypes that you're testing please? maybe interested in gearbox kit and rear seatbelt mounts depending on suitability / cost etc. Many thanks, Nick

Damper package 2 for me

Was seriously considering buying some spax adjustables next week so will hold off if this will happen soon. Any further details on the range of adjustment available?

Hmm,

I need to sort out the rear seat belts to take 2 x 3 point belts, so may be interested.

Light reading anyone? HERE, its still in force apparently !

Hi Graham,

Sounds promising - my rear bed got in the way of the upper mounting point so would be good to know dimensions to see if it would clear these - certainly interested!

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Graham

Definitely interested in damper package 2 - currently on bugpack coilovers and suffering from rubbing on the tubs round roundabouts/tight corners at speed and beam kissing the tarmac over bumps. All gets worse the more load is carried. My bus is pretty low and the beam is narrowed 4" with adjusters too - current bugpack coilovers are full length but compress a lot when the van is on the ground. I've got T2D dropped spindles.

Can you foresee any clearance issues with a narrowed beam? It's pretty tight under there at the moment.

Also, I'm a bit wary of putting too much stress through the damper top mounts given they were never designed to take the weight of the van and given the negative stories you hear about the Red9 coilovers - any thoughts?

Might also be interested in the beetle gearbox kit but not imminently - one for the future.

Graham,

If this will sort out our rear seat belt safety issue, then please put us down for the seat belt option.

Some great ideas there Graham - would like to learn more about the rear seat belts mounts

Defo for the mounts as long as they don't foul my Creative seat/bed. Would be great to see some pics.

hi Graham, inerested in the suspension stuff, but dont really understand what it is/does? any pics-details please?
what is the advantage of the seatbelt thing? and does it effect curtains? weve got a westy with a 3/4 bed so any ideas for seatbelt on wardrobe side?

keep up the pioneering!

Question:

Damper packages - it sounds like they won't be that far apart cost-wise? If I have read it properly, with damper package 1 you need to buy the Bug Pack shocks first - which must bring you close to the damper package 2 total anyway?

So, would it really be a question of which damper brand people prefer? :?:

Graham,,, you`re a wonderful man :D . I would love a pair of rear seat belt mounts for my bus. I`ve been humming and hahing for ages about what to do in the back and these will sort the issues for me lovely. I take it that the bracing bar that you mentioned is where you`ve triangulated it. I worked out for safety reasons it had to be 220mm plus higher than standard for the top mount, if you`re close ish to 290 - 300mm then that`s fantastic. Forget the safety issues this promotes, with that height , the comfort will be improved dramatically and that`s one of the reasons I don`t let littleuns in the back, because the belts were so uncomfortable they used to either take them off  or slide one shoulder out which is just as bad. I`ll stop whittering on now   And I`d like to order a set for my bus. Please extend payment details to me as required and forget about the interest stuff,, just send me / make me / get me a set ASAP. I think you`ll be sending these all over the globe as the word leaks out :D

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, Mega impressive !!! 8) ;) 8)

Rear seat belt mount interest here - design dependant .... these could 'fly' I reckon!

Please tell me more about the gearbox modification.
What are the benefits on cruising speed?
how easy is a gearbox to source (6 ribbed seem expensive)
more info and I could be interested.
cheers Paul
