Oh well Graham no harm in trying on the seats belt mounts, we chatted about it when i came over and obvioulsy cost involved in proving their worth in safety standards far outways the cost of making them. strange given i could weld a new rear arch tub in 'badly' and cus it has the correct actual mounting bracket it would be deemed safe (until something bad did happen)

Its something all of us with kids are crying out for, but cant have, so will just end up with uncomfortable kids wriggling about in the back

thanks for your efforts :(

I'm def interested in the gearbox kit.
What's the best box to get? 1303s?

I also would like the gearbox kit! As mr Scoops asked is the 1303s the best box to go for?

Rear Seat Belt Mounts, no pictures just yet but the fabricator owns a bay and wants them for his own bus so they will look good thats all I can say on that, design being finalised as we speak. I'm slightly confused why some rear beds are fouling the existing mounts so any pictures (Larry) of this will help us improve the design before we go into production. We are prepared to look at the westy wardrobe mount as an additional fabrication but this will involve drilling the westy wardrobe in 2 places to take seat belt bolts, thats the only way it can be done. Hoping to get these into production soon.

Hmmm, wonder if Topgear would do a test?

Damper Package 2. This is a completely new shock from Gaz Dampers in the UK, is fully adjustable on the damping with a click adjuster as well as having a adjustable spring plate platform as well so you can adjust both to get a the best ride that suits you, will need a bit of input from users to find their right setting but can guide people in the best settings we have found. In order to make these happen I need to have orders for 10 units (5 sets) and we are looking at approx 6 weeks lead time on these. Unfortunately due to the high cost of these and the fact they are purchased as complete units to my spec its not something I can hold stock of so these will be ordering in batches based on interest.

Hi Graham,

Do you have any idea when you might be able to get the first batch of these dampers in? I could do with some ASAP.

Adam

Update:

Seatbelt Mounts
Unless someone can lend me £3000 and give me a bus they are happy to get destroyed (only needs to be a shell) then its a non starter.

Damper Package 1
These are currently in production and will be available after EBI, so if you want a set come and see us at Camperjam!!

Damper Package 2
Need at least 5 confirmed buyers to proceed with this

Beetle Gearbox Kit
Again the new prototype one is in production and once we receive it we will carry out a trial fit before offering it for sale but its on its way

I'm in for this as long as it doesn't take months to find the buyers :) I guess folk could add their names to the list....

Damper Package 2

Graham, will this package also allow us to go a bit higher than the standard coil overs? I know this will compromise the ride a bit but I need to find a sweet spot that will raise it slightly or limit the suspension travel to allow me to get bigger tyres on.

Take me off the list please.
I'm not going to buy kit if I don't know what else I need to source.

Sorry I'm confused by this statement, its a kit to fit a beetle gearbox 1303s or a 1302s to a bay so you need a beetle gearbox. The code numbers for these boxes are readibly available on the internet. The kit is being produced for people who want to do this conversion and are going to carry it out for themselves.

We are currently waiting for the first prototype kit to arrive (its based a kit that used to be available in the US) and once we have fitted it we will provide instructions to go along with the kit. There are quite a few threads on the forum highlighting how to do the conversion as well. As far as I'm aware the kit will contain all you need apart from a set of beetle flanges and CV joints for the beetle box end.

Trying to be as helpful as possible and the codes you need are AN, AR, AS, AT or AU all with 3.875 final drive ratio

Also interested in the seat belt mounts, would this set up work with a dormobile? need to have 2 X 3 point belts in the back without fouling the bed set up....... long shot i know

Tok my time spotting this one, id be on for the damper package 2, when a: you have enough people and b:i finally have some money.

did this die a death? I tried to search....

I have the gsf bugpack coil overs on the front and whilst they are better and have reduced the rubbing they could be improved in terms of damping [sure this has been mentioned on a thread recently]

cheers

Darren

Hi Darren

Adam (67 Westy) has my dampers (Damper Package 2) on trial at the moment to see how he gets on, hes posted some comments in the technical area under the , we also now have the collars in stock to convert the Bugpack set as in Damper Package 1

His comments are on this post here http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=30994&start=60" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi Graham - don't suppose you have the beetle gearbox prototype in yet do you? If so - any update as to how it's going?

thanks :D

I missed the collars - what do they do again? and how much?

cheers

RE; Damper package 2

i would buy a set of these, will be buying dropped spindles soon.
will these be running with standard leaf springs or a straight bar like red 9 kit?

Just thought I'd put a quick summary up on this thread now it's risen back to the top :) Graham's damper package has transformed my ride from the usual coilovers. I found the coilovers to be under damped which led to a bumpy ride, rubbing wheels and a catching beam. The new dampers firm up the ride and have a good range of adjustment so you can find the best ride for you. The bus handles better and I'm not crawling along trying to avoid big bumps! I still think I can tweak further to improve my ride even more and I think I'll be able to run a larger tyre now as well which will raise the beam a little more.

I will definitely 100% be having a set of these when Graham puts an order in and I would highly recommend them. I really hope an order goes in before Graham wants them back as I don't want to go back to the old ride

If anyone wants to have a look at them and go for a test drive then get in touch with me and we'll see if we can sort something out. I'm based in Lincoln but do travel around a bit so may be able to meet up at some point

The are running on the standard leaf springs and are a direct replacement for your current shocks
