Hi all just thought Id introduce myself.

I am Paul and you can usuallyfind me on the Split Screen Van Club forum as I have just finished my 5yr project, a '65 Splitty.

This was my 3rd camper van having had two late bay windows previously (which i'd just LOVE to track down but thats another story...)

ANYWAY, i have yet to own an early Bay or 'Low-Light' as they are now being called so who knows, maybe I'll be able to rectify that soon!

Here's my van in case you are interested and I look forward to catching up with you folk real soon and learning more about your era vans!

Pauly

That is one seriously cool split!! It looks like you've done it to a really high standard, have you won at any shows yet?
What sort of bay do you fancy?

Great to have you with us - I think you'll find we're a pretty friendly bunch!

;)

Saw this at Stansted and its cool 8)

Like Juss says what type of van you getting ?????

And welcome to site

Looks like you've done an excellent job with that, you must be well chuffed dude.Good choice in colour too 8)

Cheers guys...

Well Ive had two late Bay's, and a Split so I guess the natural progression is to grab a nice early (pre-crossover) bay. Ideally looking for a camper rather than a panel or cab but we'll see whats out there.

Thanks for the comments on the Splitty. It was 5 years worth of planning, vision, saving hard, working late nights, and a little bit of help from a few experts out there for those little jobs that I either couldnt manager to do myself or had no time to do!
It has turned out exactly as I had planned it.

AND SO.... my vision has started now and I have a pretty good Idea what I want the bay to look like once Ive completed it... but of course I cant say TOO much or it'll give the game away! lol

Lets just say it will feature another of my own interiors, some very special 'house of kolor' paint and be lower than a corgi's ball bag! 8)

Lol well I would'nt say Im a Split to Bay convert  ... I still think a Splitty done right is the coolest thing on earth IN MY opinion, but it does bug me when people tag the bay windows simply as "poor mans splitty" which in so many cases really is unjust because there are namy things about the bay that are much better than the splits. For a start I have driven both and I would have to say without a shadow of a doubt that the bays are alot nicer to drive. I also really like that sliding door and long windows.

But I wont be giving up allegiance to the Splitty brigade just yet!! Just adding to my love for Aircooled VeeDubs! 8)

yeah, i was just 'pulling your leg',

i drove a slammed split with a shot steering box a few months ago, taking the bridal party to a wedding, in pouring rain and crap wipers. I can tell you it wasnt much fun :D

lol RAINEX and safaris the way forward!!!

Used to use Rainex on my Flatscreen bug years ago and never had to touch the wipers!
