Newbie here - Wheres the Chassis Number Stamped

Hi Everyone

I'm hoping to buy a 1971 Westy tomorrow. It's a US import, came in the country in 2010 so all registered on a J plate. So a quick question, where do I find the stamped chassis VIN number. I thought it was on the chassis leg inside the engine bay but couldn't find it when I first view the van. I found it on a plate under the seat but wanted to find the proper stamped VIN.

Is it engine cover plate? No idea what one of these are though but found this on some website

PS: Chassis number starts with 231

should be on the right hand side looking in the engine bay, also should be on the dash on drivers side but this could be different if the dash has been changed.
