How do people get stuff in and out of their racks?? I have one but it's not fitted it yet.I could see how you could stand on the cab step if it's at the front but how d'you get to it when it's at the back!! :?: :?:
(Which begs another question: rack on the front or the back of the roof!??)

rather than start a new thread, I'll jump in here ... I am looking to buy a roof rack for my van - being a pop top I'm presuming the two bow style is what I will need, but which one? Is there a difference between what I'm finding at JK, Heritage, etc ?

Main difference is the curve on the bows. JKs don't curve as much as the Westfalia replicas from Heritage & Creative Engineering...no right or wrong just depends on budget, think JKs are cheaper???

i've always wondered how people get stuff on and off roof racks on standard hight buses ? surly they would keep there step ladder on the rood rack ? :?

After installing the rack you get to buy one of those groovy side ladders that hang on the side of the bus. They are making repops of those too.

I like gvee's answer the best!! :D :D :D

So there's no hidden meaning in whether your rack is at the front or the back, y'know like with which ear you have pierced???

there's a meaning to which ear you have pierced ? I have both pierced  there no secret meaning on the front or back rack mate, but if you bus is more then 6" off the ground your a bender :p

turns out after lowering we found a stow away on my rack. A deck chair all the way from the states. This will now be sat on at show while smoking roll ups and drinking scrumpy :D

It's a wonder it didn't alert you to its presence by the noise of sliding and crashing about! It anybody's guess, as to how it stayed up there, without securing straps or a roofrack cover; both of which I have used with my 1972/73 VW Westfalia Contenental roofrack, since circa 1975.

I use Andrews McLaren (of baby buggy fame) aluminium-tubed folding chairs, which are much lighter and take up less space, than the one on your roofrack
