my engines 5 months old and it drips oil from the sump plate  it seems to be a part of owning an aircooled volkswagen

hi westy my deep sumps good not a drop push rods good as well just rocker covers looking like niagra falls lol just ordered
a set of gaskets covers and springs all genuine VW!!! hope they will work or else iam going to drown in oil at lesst my drive wont rust!!!!!!

Same problem here, I'm sure someone will pop up with a solution............please!!!

the most likely cause of the oil leak will be the after-market chrome rocker covers & the bail arms they come with, the springyness of the bail arms weaken & won't hold the cover tight....find a set of og covers & arms

You have a metal driveway? WIKED!!!

i've got some bolt-on Empi rocker covers, they cost £40 but they are uber oil tight, its just that bastard og sump plate gaskets that drip on mine :(

Ive got some CSP bolt up jobbies on my notch and they work like a charm, never leak and look sick!

Yeah, mine look pretty dope too 8)

dont use gasket sealer if you want to keep it og then go with the above or go with some bolt on,i found the cork gaskets better than the rubber ones for the bolt on dont forget a smear of grease on the gasket, i no you shouldn,t be doing this on new engine but i guess thats the way it is
