Hey guys,

Just getting my bus ready for MIVW in the Netherlands next weekend and my oil sender has always been a bit leaky. The thread in the block is in poor shape and i'm wondering whats the best way to sort this out?

The hole is not cracked its just the thread that's in poor condition, from my limited knowledge i think its past retapping to m10x1 but would it be a wise move to tap it to something larger adding a tee piece in place and then fitting a pressure sender and oil temp sender thus improving the situation.

Regards. Will

You could tap it out BUT you run a chance of swarf going into the engine. Ideally you want the motor apart.

Wrap the sender in ptfe tape - should stop the leak and hopefully grab the threads better
Worth a try

You should be able to fit a straight thread M10 (with dowty seal) to 1/8npt adapter. Should be leak free then.

Just a heads up, a temperature sender in that location does not work, there is no flow past that port as its at the end of the gallery.
