I'm having a 'discussion' with my partner about the charms of an original 1970 German Westfalia interior. I think she's gonna win.

How much would this interior be worth if we sold it? Condition is probably 9/10...I've yet to see or smell it. Would there be a market for it?

Absolutely, i may be sticking my neck out here but the westy were one of the most desirable and versatile conversions ( i am sure i will be corrected if wrong) but a good condition one is quite expensive, i have seen sink units, complete, go for £300

This may sound obvious, but it's only worth what somebody will actually pay for it.

Why not find out its true value by sticking it on the Aircooled Auctions site with a reasonable reserve to protect you.

You'll be supporting a forum sponsor too.

You'll have to win the battle with your other half first of course  .

You need to keep it OG!

If my wife had her way it would be orla kiely cushions covers and curtains!......

Really though while the westy interiors are great and hard to find in good condition you need to make the interior work for yourselves whether that's a total refit or just adding a few personal touches. I would live with it for a bit and see what you like and dislike then make changes if required.

You might be able to get £1000 ish for it if its complete and in good condition and there's a buyer about.

Have fun.

I want to keep it, she wants cosy cushions  aaaah.

Ah, I see. Just don't tell her it might be worth a grand in that case. She can buy a lot of shoes with that sort of money.

my advice would be to see how you get on with it first. I assume this is a new to you van with the OG interior. If you decide you really cannot do without all the mod cons or want something more 'trendy' then you can always do that after using it for a season first. You may find that you (and the other half) actually like it as it is.

I'm not a purist but part of the charm with having an old van is the originality. However, the curtains don't seem to last and usually need replacing so she may be happy choosing new ones instead of a whole interior! :)

Totally agree with mike202 above. Live with it for a while and see if you have to spend money on other priorities as costs can add up pretty quickly on the old wish list. I started off thinking i'm going to change this and that, then had to spend money elsewhere and am very happy i didn't change the og interior. I've tarted it up and improved some elements over time but it really works for us even now. It's a simpler danbury interior, not a westy, but there's 5 of us so a westy woulndt have worked for us very well. It can always be fluffed up in other ways without getting rid...
