Original US registration numbers

Just wondering if anyone has managed to identify the original registrations for their US buses (when these weren't present on the bus when purchased) and, if so' how they went about It ?

I would live to get US style plates made up with the original registration but dont know if it's even possible to trace back to these now !

Any ideas or has anyone managed this previously ?

I did know mine as it was on the import documents. I got in touch with the DMV in California but they where very reluctant to give out any further information on previous owners. The Americans are strict on privacy. You could try the DMV that's associated with the state it came from and see if they will give you any info, always worth a try I guess.

Cheers matey, tried that but just got reply stating that they couldn't give out that information.... doh !
