Dr lovestool told me about it a couple of weeks ago and just posted a pic of it on our forum, i wondered if it was the same smudge... looks like it'll make an awesome ride, i love singlecabs! :)

oh dude you putting a split beam on it?

Needs a bit ofmetalput back in underneath but nothing so scary Mate.

It camewith the narrowed beam but wanted to go for a late split beam for more drop.In 2 minds what to do..Sell the beam and get a split one??

Would that be the RBOD forum?Still waiting for my regestation to be activated

Well if you go for a split one go 2" not 4 as they are 60mm narrower to start with so you end up with a 6+" in affect which doesn't do anything for handling or tyre clearance when very low. also looks stupid but that's just my opinion.

with a 4" you will only end up with just less than 3 as the dropped spindles space the wheels out over an inch...

i have a standard width split beam on mine and i like it just how it is but it all depends on the wheel offset...

if your account hadnt been activated you wouldnt have posted so we would have deleted, i do remember seeing your name on the list. reregister and i'll keep my eye out...

Just regestered thanks Tim :D

Your Bus mate...are you running an adjustable split beam on dropped spindles?..Liking the stance.

Ill be running a set of 4.5j SA Sprinters on the front...not sure of the offsets.

Agreed with you on the 6" narrow beam..to narrow for my liking!

So if a split beam is 60mm longer from standard.....what sort of efect do you think i would get from chopping the beam from the wheel side of the towers(between arms and tower)As like the Jiffy bus is done im led to believe??

:)

Yeah it's a standard width beam with adjusters and dropped spindles, it's only dropped slightly on the adjusters though as they sit much lower on a split beam. the problem with narrowing and going very low on a bay beam is that the 2 beams are further apart so when you go that low the bottom beam and steering link is very close to the road...

not sure what offset those wheels are.

the split beam is 60mm shorter not longer. you could narrow a split bus beam in that way to give yourself in affect a 4" narrow. that is how the jiffy bus is narrowed.

the beam that came with my bus is this one
http://www.wagenswest.com/parts.html

thing thats getting me is the years it states it fits...it looks to have 2 different mounting paterns so can understand that....the confusing bit is,is it ball joint meaning you would have to run an earlt split on BJ's or would it take KnL ?

Bloody ell think ill sell the beam and buya splity one

I used to have the Piper DD panel..it was narrowed by Long Roofs who owned the Jiffy...he told me that my beam was the same as the Jiffy but never got round to asking the owner if they were the same

if it's ball joint you cant run king and link on it because the trailing arms wouldn't be parallel... plus by the time you've bought split trailing arms, spindles etc you may aswell just fit a split beam and sell that one... what month of what year was the bus built?

Not sure on the month Mate..Vin is 269144854 if you can tell from that?.Other than that is there any other way of finding out from the bus?

I dont know from the chassis number, i'm pretty sure the 9 makes it a 69 model year so prob aug 68- aug 69. has it not got a silver sticker in the drivers side door shut that has the vin# and month/year date stamped in it. otherwise look on the back of the speedo pod(use a torch), there's a date stamp on it. also the wheels are all date stamped. depends if they are the originals or not... there are lots of other little details which changed over time. most of the reason i'm asking is to know if a split beam will bolt straight on, measure how far the top and bottom bolt are apart and see which holes they match on your new beam...
