Panels From....?????

ok, so as the progress of my resto has almost got me to an empty shell, i'll be looking for ALOT of panels. i just wondered where everyone found the best place to get the following from:

- Genuine cab floor complete
- Genuine rear inner wheel arch n/s and o/s
- rear corner repair n/s and o/s
- battery tray n/s and o/s
- middle section opposite sliding door (below swage line)

also is there anywhere out there that sell new cab doors, and tailgate as good as rust free originals?

Are you looking for genuine volkwagen panels or replicas? You`d be hard pushed to get genuine stock these days, however you could cut the metal you need from a rust free scrapper. That`s my personal preferance for most parts. Saying that there are some good quality replicas avaliable these days. Schofields have a range and i think autocraft too. As far as cuts go then FBI or volksheaven are probably your best bet
I bought brazilian doors new once and wasn`t happy. Id go for imported doors anyday the fitment is both easier and better. Still this is just my opinion.

I too have been looking for inner rear wheel arches but it looks like you have to buy the entire tub (at circa 75 quid a piece) to get the inner arch section.

As sw said go for OG metal cuts - availability seems a bit on / off - FBI in Swansea has got a pair of rear corner cuts at the moment (£150 each though) - was gonna get them myself but I have had a re-think and may try and carry out localised butt welded repairs to mine as they arent as bad as I first thought.

From experience, rust free original doors are the only way to go.Steel is a lot thicker and the brazillian ones make a terrible sould when they shut!
Same with tailgate, metal is just better on the original. i just got a bargain from karmann konnection £50 +VAT for a us tailgate for my '71. Its in fab condition!
Schofields are who ive always used for corners etc.The quality of the panels is far superior to veng etc from german f and sweedish etc.

The middle section is a bit more tricky.Unless ur van is lhd as you can only get lhd panels from VW Brazil. You will have to modify the new panel at the swage line by grafting in the section from a uk van.Ive searched hi and low and this is the only way ive found!
