I am just about to embark on new sills and dog legs for my 68 crewie. Can i ask if there are any differences between the panels from JK, schofields, status etc. Or should i just by the cheapest as i will have to modify them anyway?
Many thanks for any advice

We are renovating a 1968 bay, some of the panels are ok you can bend them into shape. As for the early bay front dog legs, they are crap. We have been on to all the suppliers and they all come from the same manufacturer. Already sent back 2, one was 3" out at the step and they do not even follow the door profile. We had an old complete front arch from about 2 years ago from the same maker in Brazil, that was an ok fit, but the new ones are not good. Good luck

Yep, all from the same factory in Denmark, and mostly complete tosh - worse even than the poor excuse for beer they make there. Mine had to be cut and re-welded (not by me I hasten to add) and even then they are only a 'fair' fit.

As said rust free cuts are teh best option but not cheap.

Bon chance

Just doing my 72, all outriggers sills were bought as genuine vw where available. As with the others the were made to fit after a lot of bending and rewelding.

My front arches from that 'clock' place were about an inch short at the front and didn't follow the door profile.

Cuts would have been the best option, but i went for genuine VW arches from a late and cut the internal step off, then refabricated the whole area to meet the floor. It worked in the end and im happy with it all
