Hi All,

At the moment, on my '71 bay van I've got a monza 4 tip exhaust.

Apart from looking horrible, it doesn't have provision for me to link my stock heat exchangers to the fanhousing.

Are there any non stock exhausts that will allow me to do this as per stock exhaust with the cardboard tubes? Ideally I'd like to run a stock air filter and heating system, its only a 1600 engine anyway.

It also needs to clear the engine mounting bracket :)

Otherwise, does anyone know if a bug exhaust with taper tips will fit on an early bay? Without cutting bumper etc.

the 4 into 1 type exhaust systems will allow you to run heaters, something like a single quiet pack... id go for a stainless steel version.

bug exhausts only just clear the rear valance and will break in a very short time due to the tailpipes smacking the bus every five minutes
stick with a standard bus or an aftermarket performance one

For each performance/non stock exhaust you will have to get a pair of aluminium replacement tubes instead of the cardboard ones. These aluminium hoses can be connected from the fan housing directly to the heat exchangers. You can't use the cardboard ones, because holes will burn in them where they touch the exhaust tubes.

so are we talking the stainless one from JK for £250?

i have the complete JK stainless one and it has been perfect for years now. Would say dont go for the bluebird one as it ends up with a heat stripe down the middle after a while.

Turbo thomas is always a quality option 8)

is there actaully any noticeable change in performance and sound? Mine is stock and is v noisy.

Get one custom made by turbo thomas, not cheap but you get it made exactly how you want it.

You will notice an increase in power (only small but there!) and a definate change in sound (depends on what one) usually they are a nicer deeper tone. 8)
