You seem to be missing the van it attaches too :lol: Its a large brick shaped peice of metal with four wheels at each corner.

Sorry I had to do that.

Seirous answer: I've just been and had a look at my petrol cap. Its an oringinal VW cap. There's no spring just a conical shaped black metal part that fits inside the filled neck and creates the seal.....maybe thats what you're missing and it should be attached to the end of the spring?

Hope that helps?

thanks for taking the time to look at yours for me , not sure where i get the bits from , i am hoping that it will work if i just get the kork gasket on it . If it dont then just cant fill it up and do 60mph plus around corners :lol:

Dont suppose anyone knows where to get the gasket , i saw it somewhere and cant remember where :roll: thought it was status but cant see it on there !

Just had a look at the VW heritage site, lots of parts but the seal is'nt numbered.

Had a quick look on EBay and found this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Standard-British-Fuel-Cap-Cork-Seal-2-1-2_W0QQitemZ370256235064QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item5634fdca38" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Measure the diameter and see if it fits!? 8)
