hello all
does anyone have any idea why my patrol gauge is working not quite right??
Its on a 1968 camper.
Whats happening is.... when the fuel tank was completely empty, and i turned on the ignition the needle on the fuel gauge went up past the red mark and stopped at the white mark after that.
I put in a gallon of petrol [ignition still on] and the needle moved up a mark.
I drove the van so as i ran out of petrol and it stopped on the same mark [before i put the fuel in]
I have checked the sender unit[ its the tube type]..and the float is freely going up and down fully
when i turn it upside down the needle moves upwards. and when i turn it the right way...the needle goes to stop.on the first white mark after the red.
ive noticed there is a bit of rust around the gauge could it be this.
could it be a nakkered gauge or the sender.
any one else had this prob.
cheers
jon

More than likely to be the sender I'de say, the guages are pretty sound, either they work or they dont. Earth faults cause probs with the set-up too, if you can ide replace the sender and go from there.
