I did a trail piece with a spare bit. I hammered it flat on a bit of wood, but it didn't look good wasn't 100% on one side. So I ended up measuring the original flat bits and crushed them in a vice, then rounded the ends on a bench grinder. Built the gap up with4 washers. It serves the same purpose and is all tight, but the proof will be in the fitting

So you say you had no seal on the roof and the wind got underneath and ripped it up breaking the brackets  or do you think the brackets were fractured b4? Either way you must have laid a brick

Cheers mate. They look bob on. Where did you get your pop top canvas from btw?

I got the canvas :?: If I wasn't in such a rush to get it all finished before Ninove, I would be sending back. And asking for a refund. I bought what I read as a hand made best quality canvas. £315. I would hate to see the cheap quality ones. Was gonna make one out a 70's canvas tent. Wish I had now. Oh well just one to put down to experience

One was already snapped, there was no seal and there was locks fitted to the front roof to the guttering. I thought he was worried about someone braking in. I removed them as they looked nasty. I now know why they were fitted lol
